INSKEEP: Well, let's talk about that. Are some of these infections breakthrough infections with people who are vaccinated? SCHMITZ: Yeah. There are quite a few. You know, according to health authorities, nearly 2 of every 3 new infections this autumn among those over 60 in Germany have been breakthrough infections among those who have been already vaccinated. It's already - it's important to note here that two-thirds of all Germans are fully vaccinated. Yet we are still seeing the spike. from: The WHO says COVID cases in Europe have risen steadily over the past 5 weeks
You are citing the the information in a small study. The Israeli national health website publishes Covid breakthrough vaccination information for their entire vaccinated population of millions. We have provided references to it multiple times and the information aligns with the vaccinated breakthrough rate the U.S. is seeing. I will note however the U.S. dataset is much larger than Israels.
"2 of every 3 new infections this autumn among those over 60" -- which is why Germany is focused on providing their older citizens with boosters. They got their vaccinations first and their immunity is waning at this point nearly a year later. Note the bulk of infections in Germany are among those younger than 60. And a huge majority of infections in Germany is among the unvaccinated -- which is why the country is locking down the unvaccinated. Information can be found in the Lockdown the Unvaccinated thread.
We have already heard from this guy. Man gets vaccinated TEN times in ONE DAY 'while pretending to be different anti-vaxxers' as doctors warn it could have serious health risks https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...-times-one-day-getting-paid-anti-vaxxers.html
Please. You're now going to fall back on the ol' GWB "your source doesn't say what I like, so I'll discount it". You're full of crap. Always.
In a tiny sample size. Get some perspective on how science works. If you like small studies -- we can simply start posting many others from Israel. Breakthrough Infections Occur in Those with Lower Antibody Levels, Israeli Study Shows https://directorsblog.nih.gov/2021/...th-lower-antibody-levels-israeli-study-shows/ "Just 39 confirmed breakthrough cases were found, indicating a breakthrough infection rate of just 0.4 percent."
Or maybe we should take a look at larger studies from Israel. Waning Immunity after the BNT162b2 Vaccine in Israel https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2114228 December 9, 2021 Among 5,279,926 fully vaccinated adults, we retained data on 4,791,398 persons for the main analysis (Figure 2). Among these persons, 13,426 had a positive PCR test (confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection) and 403 had severe Covid-19. Table 1 provides the number of events according to vaccination period, and Table S1 in the Supplementary Appendix provides a more detailed summary according to vaccination period and age group. Table 1 shows the characteristics of the study population according to vaccination period; Tables S2 through S4 show these data for each of the three age groups. So 13,426 divided by 4,791,398 is a vaccinated breakthrough rate of 0.28%
From the NYT: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/10/28/us/covid-breakthrough-cases.html If we simply take the data here that shows that Unvax to vax case rates are 5 to 1, that implies a rate of vaccinated individuals hit with COVID of 17%. And that is assuming the data is actually correct (when it is almost certainly skewed towards preventing reporting on breakthrough cases). And this is without Omicron where we are now hearing the vaccine doesn't really protect you much from. Or how about the latest data from the CDC that implies 20% of the cases are from vaccinated individuals? https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#rates-by-vaccine-status
