Sorry, if my neighbor gets measles, he can't transmit it to me. I'm vaccinated against measles.

If I get vaccinated from COVID, I can still get the virus, transmit it, and get ill from it.

That is a very, very stark difference and it has nothing to do with world vaccination rate. And nothing you try to spin can ever change this.

TT, subconsciously still debates with himself about 100% efficacy and 100% effectiveness. In reality, vaccines are not 100%...never marketed as 100% and there will never be a 100% vaccine...never has there been one.

That's not a problem with vaccines. The issue right now is to help vaccines be more effective in protecting those in their community as in preventing hospitalization and death...wear a face mask, social distancing, and such.
    • Simply, infections are not scary but it is a warning of what may come if people ignore the other public health guidelines considering some countries have a large % of their population that do in fact ignore public health guidelines.
Another issue that I will discuss later on in my science thread. Omicron has a Ro rate (reproduction number) that's almost 4x greater than the Delta variant...that's unrealistic or not possible.
    • Delta Variant was doubling every 1 - 2 weeks. Omicron is doubling every few days in countries outside of South Africa.
For example, one week ago, Omicron was only 0.4% of our Covid infections. Now its 3% of our Covid infections in the United States. This was expected considering our behavior during the holiday season and people's travel pattern going into the holidays.

In addition, in South Africa... there are other scary statistics. Omicron is attacking young adults and teenagers while still sending them to the hospital. Now you can understand why a university like Cornell is shutting down early for the holidays...they'll be using extensive Covid testing for students to return back to the University after the holidays.

Bullshiat -- there are numerous examples in the United States in recent years of vaccinated people getting breakthrough cases of measles when groups of generally unvaccinated people (generally religious communities) hold an event where it spreads quickly even to some others who are vaccinated. Some examples include the well-know Disneyland outbreak and the NYC outbreak.

You should take a closer look at your information sources before spreading complete nonsense.

This is what public health measures will look like in 2022 when the remaining antivaxxers are taken to the forests and we will sing songs and be happy they are gone, all utterly sick of them and their gobshite ways.

It will be in 4k and hopefully 3d mind.

    Tide has turned.

From your article on the Disneyland outbreak:

Among the 110 California patients, 49 (45%) were unvaccinated; five (5%) had 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine, seven (6%) had 2 doses, one (1%) had 3 doses, 47 (43%) had unknown or undocumented vaccination status, and one (1%) had immunoglobulin G seropositivity documented, which indicates prior vaccination or measles infection at an undetermined time.
So only 7 should be considered "breakthrough" cases because they had 2 doses (which is the requirement).

And that's assuming they were truthful and had been vaccinated fully and didn't just say they had - which is a long shot as people will lie if they believe they've done something wrong.

The more alarming fact here is just how many were unvaccinated for measles.

If this had been a COVID outbreak, it would have been far, far worse (in terms of breakthrough cases) even with all of them vaccinated. Not to mention some of them, percentage wise, would have had side effects from the vaccine.

Medical records demonstrate they are vaccinated. Once again -- vaccination serves to protect the majority of the population from measles. As expected -- nearly all the cases will be among the unvaccinated. However some vaccinated breakthrough cases will occur for measles and mumps -- at a rate of about 3% of those directly exposed to an infected individual(s) in close contact.

Sadly there are some religious communities where nearly all the members are unvaccinated --- and there is a growing anti-vax movement in the U.S. who are not vaccinating their children as per medical recommendations leading to a more sizeable population of unvaccinated individuals.

Show that these people had their medical records checked, and weren't simply asked.

I'm not going to argue the 3% breakthrough of measles, but would like your data source.

Also, what is the breakthrough for COVID?

The Covid vaccinated breakthrough rate is well documented. The U.S. has one of the largest publicly available datasets in terms of the number of people - which can be found at websites for the KFF vaccinated breakthrough rate by state or the CDC data on vaccinated breakthrough rate.

As noted in the U.S. data the maximum Covid vaccinated case breakthrough rate for a state is 0.56% and most states are below 0.2%. Keep in mind we are in an environment where Covid is highly prevalent across the U.S.

Really. You're going to sit there and say - with a straight face - that measles vaccine breakthrough is 3%, and COVID is .6%?
