guys I really appreciate the replys. the f-22 was around $2700....i think So, If I go with the dell (business) I really still dont know what I should be getting.....all I know is I want super fast.. if you guys were to buy a top notch computer that could handle 6 monitors (4 of which are charts) plus tons of streaming data what would you build? do i go with a core2 duo or the core i7 or the quadcore or something else??? do I get 2gbs 3 or 4??? and yes 100% I need windows xp, not vista. and the graphics chip? thx again, I really have no idea what I need.
As an additional followup esignal states I need the following.....so I want a computer to have these specs as the bare minimum. Power User* Windows XP Intel® Core⢠2 Q6600 Quad-Core, 2.4 GHz or faster 3 GB RAM 40 MB available hard disk space
As a second computer - I just purchased one of these off eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/DELL-STUDIO-XPS...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50 $695 - 8% off electronics March coupon for eBay customers - 12% cashback from Microsoft Live search promotion = $555 shipped These XPS machines pop up in the Dell outlet sometimes for a good price, but you have to be fast. I need to upgrade the PSU and video card .... but by the benchmarks a 2.66Ghz i7 is faster than 3.0Ghz of a lesser processor. With 4 cores+hyperthreading it shows up as 8 CPU's in task manager. Versus the 3.8Ghz dual core, it may be a tad slower, but better for multitasking (4 cores vs. 2 cores). It depends on what you do and if your software can take advantage of multiple cores.
For most of us, it seems insane to spend that kind of money on a rig with these specs. The only conceivable reason for doing it is that the company has some sort of all-world support/warranty system where they will courier you a new rig same day with no questions asked if yours hiccups.
You won't find one configured exactly for 6-monitors on the Dell outlet site, but you can get a T3400 with most of it. Get one with an FX570 video card. You'll also have to add an additional FX570 (for your 4 30"ers) and you'll also need a 285 or 290x1 for the 5th and 6th monitors. Don't pay up for extra RAM.. it's cheap from Frys or Newegg. Total price, about $900 + shipping and tax.
This computer doesn't have the slots to accommodate 6-monitors easily... though I think he might do it with an expensive quad video card + a dualhead.
here u go this gatway use to cost about 1300 the last time i checked. seems like a price drop http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...re+i7&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1218017465909 it only has 2 pcx slots but ims sure u can still have ur 6 monitor setup somehow. i don't know which card u will get to achieve that maybe a pci video card. Pretty sure there is away cause i kno most older computer don''t have more than 2 pcx slots and they have more monitors than 4. as i always say i would piece together my own computer.
damn feel like i should getting paid for this shit. If u do decide to get the gateway send me that 4850 for my work. 1 Quadro NVS 280 PCI and 2 Quadro NVS 290 or 1 Quadro NVS 440 and 1 Quadro NVS 290 bamm! 6 monitor setup with that gateway.
Get paid for what? OP wants XP... this one doesn't have it. You said one of the solutions included a PCI card... this computer mobo apparently doesn't have any... He wants to run 30" monitors.. the 290s don't display 30" resolution.. and neither does the 440 Yeah, you should get paid all right..
