you make a good point. that's a picture of "A" trading station. That's one of the people I compete against. Likely a ooold photo. I have noticed that it is handy to have a few 17 or 19 inch square format flatscreens around to simplify desktop management, assign different use to different monitors. Desktop management software has not made it to my domain yet. Another ten years, maybe . . ., lol. cheers
That's very old pic of trading floor, like 10 years ago. All of them are gone, replaced by servers in data centers. Programmer siting on the old trading floor, now. It's awful to have a desk on the trading floor - no privacy at all. The old 2D cards handled 4 monitors and don't produce much heat.
Many traders on ET think a 40" monitor or tv running 1080p is the best thing since slice bread. They have no idea what resolution means.
My sweet spot are 34inch 4k or one resolution below screens. Great for coding and quote/research screens.
