I am getting a wireless modem (which can run 2 -4 computers at the same time) myself. However, I was told that I will still need a wireless adaptor (besides the wireless modem) if I'm using a computer. If using notebook, then the wireless adaptor is not necessary as the wireless modem is sufficient.

    Is that true? Am confused.

If using a modern notebook, it will have a built-in radio receiver for wireless connection. For desktops, you'll need some type of wireless adapter which mounts in a PCI slot. Of course your desktop could be wired into the router. Then you'd be connecting through the NIC chip on the mobo and wouldn't need a "wireless adapter".
