Nepotism in government is bad for reasons unrelated to merit, i.e., in your example, unrelated to "...know[ing] how to make money."
I don't recall the incident you mention, but focusing on what we can change is exactly what I'm talking about here. Democrats and republicans can butt heads for eternity but nothing is getting solved and time is running out. We can either try brute force every 8 years (and they then do the same when they are in power for 8 after the pendulum swings back the other way) or we can attempt to force the winds of change. One thing conservatives tend to do a whole lot better than liberals is call out their own for failing to stick to sound principles. What we shouldn't do is cave on those principles simply because "it's our guy now". That's what liberals tend to do. When it's wrong, it's wrong, regardless of which side is in power. That's all I'm saying.
I don't see fhl behaving any different than Tony Stark on this forum, though fhl seems to have more arguments and values that align with my belief system than Tony. But both are equally aggressive at stressing their viewpoints, and pointing out flaws in the other side. I have seen fhl go after those on the right in the past. I have never seen Tony go after the left (though I may have missed it). So the only thing "typical" here is the behavior expected on a political forum between left and right.
Global warming is a theory. An unconfirmed theory. The globe is not even warming. They had to go back and change the historical temp record to make it look like it is. The original records don't show warming. The intelligence community has committed crimes to try and get Trump on this bogus charge. Can you say 'tainted investigation'? Party officials telling me of the accuracy of Obama's documents while hiding the evidence doesn't persuade me of anything. Especially when their explanations strain credulity. The courts claim nobody has standing to review obama's documents and everybody has standing to review Trump's executive orders. Because any other outcome would be RACIS! Are you being paid or not?
I just don't think that trying to get democrats to work with us on something like health care is any more realistic than trying to get them to get to the bottom of obama's personal documents.
When it comes to Obamas BC not only do Democrat Hawaii State officials state he was born there but so did The Republican Governor. http://www.wnd.com/2010/05/150125/ Hawaii governor announces 'exact' place of Obama birth More than a year and half after Barack Obama was elected commander in chief, the governor of Hawaii is now publicly voicing the alleged exact location of Obama’s birth, saying “the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii.” The disclosure is believed to be the first time a state government official has declared the precise place where Obama was born, despite numerous other published claims, including some for a different hospital in Honolulu. The remark came Sunday night when Gov. Linda Lingle, a Republican, was interviewed on New York’s WABC Radio by host Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. (The subject was addressed at the 77-minute mark.) http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...-birth-certificate-final-chapter-time-we-mea/ "Even the governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle, a Republican who at the time was stumping for John McCain, said it was on the up-and-up."
Disagree with your read of the definition. The antonym of nepotism is impartiality. That implies that in a hiring process it should not matter what the relationship is between the hiring firm/organization and the applicant are. The hiring should be purely based on merit. That of course also includes motives. You will hardly ever read in job postings that "friends and family must not apply". What the problem here is that Kushner brings even more conflicts of interest into the White House, aside the fact that there are way more qualified applicants lining up for a job Kushner got just because he is the son in law.
