You'd laugh even harder to know I only trade Dow and Crude Futures!! I like to keep my eye on a few things though. 4 Screens didn't cut it so six made the most sense. The whole setup only cost me half of yesterdays profits (Today lost a bit... got chopped up) so I don't feel too bad spending money on it.
I just ordered two Visiontek Radeon HD2600XT X2 QUAD Graphics Card - ATi Radeon HD 2600 XT - 1GB GDDR3 SDRAM 256bit. I'll let you know if it works.
if you don't want to mess with a video card check out this device Matrox triplehead2go http://techgage.com/reviews/matrox/th2go_de/matrox_th2gode_08.jpg
Thanks for the suggestion but hopefully this will work. I'm having them overnight ship the cards so that I can be fully operational when the volume returns next week. For some reason Abit (I have an abit motherboard) doesn't like to play with Nvidia. Doesn't support SLI etc. With these ATI's I can enable Crossfire too. Anyone want to buy two Nvidia 7600's let me know!!! Runs four screens great.
I did not laugh at you. I said it as a humor. Actually I am also thinking of having a 4 monitor set-up. It give you a feeling of professionalism. Even if you don't need it, having it as a toy for a trader is acceptable. Some people buy toy cars, some buy a boat, some buy a ATV,... and traders upgrade their setup. Personally if I can close this year flat, I will reward myself with that setup. Otherwise I will keep using my 15" laptop.
Trust me. There are so many things moving today's markets that you need to keep your eye on many things throughout the day. One day its LEH, one day its oil, one day its the dollar which effects oil then effects the market then the financials. I used to watch things on a quote list but found it had very little value. I need to keep charts of all these things up so I can see when they are reversing and how relatively strong they are at any given moment. When I used to trade part time from a laptop I could never make money either. Day Trading requires full undivided attention. You can't do it part time.
Another reason for having multiple monitors is reducing tunnel carpel syndrome from constantly clicking the mouse to flip between windows.............................................
I hope so!!! Not really trying to go overboard... just trying to fill my needs. Couldn't find another setup that could support my requirements. I want to keep my motherboard and it has problems with Nvidia... so there you go. Hopefully I'll be up and running by tomorrow.
