Ok, I've been trying to determine if it's possible to trade the russell 1000 futures on EurexUS. According to their website here, the russell 1000 has literally no volume whatsoever but I was googling around and according to these articles from 2005 -- here and here, the russell 1000 did some decent volume on eurexus in the past. So, either volume dropped to zero in 2006 or I'm reading something wrong. Can anyone here tell me if the russell 1000 on EUREX US is tradable at all a mid-term basis (1 - 2 week trades)? Thanks in advance!
Yes your assumption is correct, all EurexUS contracts dried up - in the order of their introduction. The bonds died first after trading 20-60k/day, then the RUI/RUT, Forex was a fiasco from day one. Think it will be unwinded / closed soon. The management made nearly every mistake known to man When considering ways to trade the Russell, EurexUS is clearly the worst. Try CME first, then IWB shares. Also, I don't see the need to trade the Russell 1000 overall, because the correlation to the S&P is nearly 1.0
