IB Canada has a big CIPF(Canadian Investor Protection Fund) logo on their home page. So you can safely assume that your account is covered by CIPF.

I know it's late in the thread, but I will throw in my vote for IB. The commission argument holds, but I still like the reliability and the price given that I usually scale in and that means that it would end up being more expensive at another broker anyway. Just one Canadian's opinion (even though he doesn't currently live there). -DTK
