There is something that can be done which is empirically very well proven but unfortunately people talk very little about it (probably because only small money can be made from it): Physical exercise has a big positive effect after a diagnosis of colon (and breast) cancer. Just a small selection of many hits that can be found with google: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/treatment/colon-and-rectal/exercise http://www.hopkinscoloncancercenter..._Page_ID=B7D14692-53DC-4A13-85B9-6BE7FC163AE8 http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/245257.php (Please understand this does NOT mean to stay away from chemo- or radtiotherapy. It is certainly also helpful in many situations. Btw I studied medicine.) In contrast, nutrition and intake of food supplements is highly controversial (as can be seen in this thread).
The body does not excrete the stereoisomer "dl" tocopherols any more readily than the natural. Not to say they're all active, but it's not an issue of antigenicity. It's partially an issue of solubility and a lot of other factors. If what you stated was accurate then there would be a massive number of vitamin deficiency cases in this country. Intake of fortified cereals (ugh) and milk (D2) are the empirical samples. Huge dataset.
I would caution that both of these can feed cancer in some cases if taken in very large doses.......recent studies have suggested this for vitamins A & C in particular. I think that small quantities may be ok though.....or if they are prescribed
Oh yesss.... all things scripted are magical! A third of all cardiologists are too ignorant to recommend CoQ10 with statins. While on the subject of CoQ10... it's chemoprotective to malignant as well as benign (normal) cells. There is no reward without risk, and the benefits far outweigh the potential for tumor progression.
Supplements can be quite dangerous. Beta carotene, for example, was shown to increase rates of lung cancer contrary to the hypothesis being tested. Why? Because there are hundreds of beneficial carotenoids and your cells have receptors for a balance of nutrients. Beta carotene is but one carotenoid and the supplements caused too much of it to fill the receptors, blocking the rest of them from being absorbed. Handle, you have cancer, so avoid supplements (except for CoQ10) and avoid all protein powder that has dairy (whey, casein) in it. That will fuel cancer cell growth. The key to optimal health is to eat whole foods. No supplements are necessary (unless you have a significant deficiency). Your body will take what it needs when it needs it. We're designed to eat whole foods, not individual substances extracted from them. You can chew coca leaves all day long for years and suffer no ill effects. But if you refine the whole leaves, extract the cocaine and snort it, you risk becoming addicted with subsequent damage to major organs and risk of psychosis.
So says the chick who erroneously believes she can alkalize her blood by eating alkaline foods. You do have a point regarding receptor competition.
that chick led him to a diet that helped him lose 105 lbs,we know she's not a doc, but handle is happier..atti..what vitamins shrink the prostrate
She knows less about physiology than my 12yo as he's learning about blood chem. What's her excuse? And she's recommending people "go alkaline"? Ya, you'll lose weight if you stop eating McDs and go vegan. Saw Palmetto and lycopene can't hurt.
OK, I assume that's a reference to her survivor status. You think her alkalizing methodology had something to do with it? Or perhaps she was Stage 0 in situ, perhaps? There are unlimited variables here. Making your blood alkaline ain't one of them. It's unconscionable for her to be recommending anything on the topic. It's irritating as it's grossly negligent. I have nothing against her personally, but what she's doing is irresponsible.
