how do you go naked on that? The terminology you are using along with your general question for us to tell you which ETFs to blindly put your money is what makes it clear that you ar enot yet ready to trade.
I was just getting ready to type something similar. Going "naked" implies writing options for securities you do not own. At least thats what I thought.
"naked" in the sense of not having the underlying. bad terminology, but you probably got the point. I'm not looking to debate terms and wits...I'm honestly just looking for ETFs that have a great potential to go down. Markets have been down 3 out of the last 4 election Octobers btw. It's going down...
If it's all going down why not just select a basket and short the lot? Or if you're asking for investment/gambling advice on a forum why not give the money to a charity and paper trade your bets. At least the money would go to a better place.
Simple, correctly time your put purchases on XIV (short volatility) and after the correction, correctly time buying calls on XIV. Start a threat " So easy a Cavema.........."
At least you guys are getting warmer in terms of offering a helpful hand instead of being condescending. Thanks I always heard that 3 out of 4 ain't bad. That's basically a lock. I would equate it to Jordan hitting that FT with his eyes closed. I don't want to short a whole basket...well, because I'm not on margin first, but then I don't want to worry about scaling out of too many positions. I think the UVXY calls may be too rich for this trade
You need a reason to believe the market is going to go down, not based on election cycles. If you google ETF and indexes you can find a list of all the indexes traded as ETFs and pick your winners to short or buy puts. Otherwise you are just looking for someone to hand you a stock to go and buy puts on. Naked means shorting something outright without it being covered. SO I still am not clear what you mean by naked with respect to ETFS.
Well I think I did a bit of both ;-) . Could you not just short the index ETF? Or maybe think about other markets such as gold or forex? Agreed I think the dow and probably global stocks in general are likely to decline in the next few months but that will have repercussions in other markets.
