Is this how you run a business ? Hire unqualified idiots like "Jem" who has a B. of Arts degree to do a job requiring real skills in areas like medical science or data analysis. That's not going to work too well in my opinion. Trump ran on the same premise and it was a disaster.
I look for people who can think critically and don't just accept information because it is the "party line" or that's the way we've done things for X years. We have a jar in my office where everyone has to put a $5 bill in when someone says "That's how we've always done it". I want people who challenge data, provide insights and second guess me. In short, all of the people who work for me know they can challenge my comments at any time. We are a stronger group for it and it has led me to where I am today. You should try it some time.
Yes... when you only allow COVID patients in hospitals and not other patients then most of the wings of the hospital will be empty as the ICU staff focuses only on COVID cases. This should be obvious and has been explained many times before. Why do you keep pushing this COVDI-denier nonsense.
Exactly, further proof your lockdowns were not based on data and probably did far more harm overall than they saved.
Do you know how I know this person is shoveling bullshiat... Simply by looking up the total number of hospital beds in Portugal by year. It is above 34,000 every year -- not down near 20K. https://www.statista.com/statistics/557324/hospital-beds-in-portugal/ So the only spike in occupancy was in the month of January 2014 -- I will give you an extra bonus if you can identify the medical issue that occurred in Portugal at this time.
I don't disagree with your comment. But why were hospitals "overwhelmed" when there was so much empty space? Couldn't it be repurposed?
Maybe you need to go talk to an ICU specialist on how oxygen and equipment feeds are set-up for ICU sections of a hospital. Extending ICU functionality in a hospital to "normal" beds is no easy task. Some hospitals were able to extend to a few extra beds of ICU -- converting every bed in a hospital to be ICU is a task that would cost millions & take months. And all of this is ignoring the isolation requirements of ICU beds. Beyond emergency intake and ICU sections of hospitals -- most other beds are used for elective surgery recovery and other basic care. With COVID, elective surgeries were cancelled and these beds were unused. These beds cannot be simply converted to be ICU beds. Of course, I have not even touched on staffing yet. Even with the existing ICU beds the hospitals were short staffed. There are specialist requirements for people working in ICUs with COVID. For instance -- you need Vent & Trach specialists not just general nurses. This is why you saw some hospital staff with these skills working 7 days a week and other hospital staff laid off in 2020.
What the fuck are you bullshitting about now. Fucking show the data. I know doctors who were underutilized And... I was at a wedding last night with medical staff who were laid off and are now per diem Fuck you with your bullshit. We can just make shit up or argue by analogy too. But... we actually desire to save harm overall and support freedom. Show the data to support your bullshit asshole. For some ICUs (maybe all) there is a spectrum of care that exists outside an ICU.. The decision to transfer a patient is not always clear... and its not even binary for at least some ICUs and some patients. There are plenty of times... doctors and care providers make judgement calls about whether to provide care themselves, where they are, or transfer a patient to an ICU. Last night even ... I heard care providers say... hey how is x doing... I almost transferred x to the ICU but... we did this and while were doing x... we saw improvement so we decided to wait and see. Also care providers can provide similar care to some patients outside an ICU. And sometimes they do... For instance I know somebody very well. And sometimes instead of sending patients to an ICU... they say... get X up here she can probably take of this situation right here... (and sometimes she can being that she has spent 20 years in an ICU) You are so full of shit... at best you could be talking about local conditions. Which is why I am not telling what happened across the country but I know what happened here to staff... and I remember some staff who were laid off who could have helped out with Covid patients.
