First -- being vaccinated prevents serious illness and death from Covid. The death rate for the unvaccinated is more than 20 times that of the vaccinated in most studies. Similarly as outlined in studies vaccination reduces the transmission of Covid but does not stop it. This is primarily due to the very infectious Omicron variant which is vaccine evasive. Prior to the Omicron variant appearing the vaccinated breakthrough rate was a merely 0.5% of the Covid vaccine. Just remember that over 95% of those with severe Covid gasping for their last breaths in hospitals are unvaccinated. Sadly the medical staff typically needs to deal with the other anti-vax family members who insist the patients must be treated with horse paste and other useless remedies.

Fortunately both Moderna and Pfizer are working on a Omicron-specific booster which will likely be available this fall. All the above statements were made prior to Omicron -- at a time when the vaccinated breakthrough rate was a mere 0.5% -- and they were true at the time they were stated.
So wait a second. If they were true only at the time before Omicron, why were the same individuals pushing the vaccine afterwards when they knew it wouldn't stop you from getting sick? Or even now? Please show the breakthrough COVID cases by month to back up your claim that it was a mere .5% during last summer.
The vaccine is still very effective at preventing serious illness and death -- even during this era of Omicron. Over 95% of the deaths are still unvaccinated. The information from KFF and the CDC showing vaccinate breakthrough rates by state prior to Omicron was posted many times previously. Feel free to look up some of the numerous posts.
