NBA: Will the Heat repeat + Other Thoughts

  1. you have a short memory.. remember that hockey player that cheap shotted that guy who banged his head on the ice a year or two ago? The guy was suspended for the remainder of the year. Other stories of head hunter goons in hockey going after players.

Sports is the same where ever there is contact. Even soccer has cheap shot (Zidane) bullshit, even football with all those pads (Terrell).

Also is your post implying something racial???

  3. Really??? A guy takes a hockey stick and literally slaughters an unsuspecting player from behind ( McSorlly?) and your comparing that with a sucker punch or spitting?

They also had one of their players TAKE OUT A HIT on another player...talk about coward!

  4. I bet my friend that it would take at least 3 posts before someone mentioned the Todd Bertuzzi incident (Damn, it only took one). I also bet him that "the race card" would be thrown in in less than 3 posts (ding, ding...winner!!!)

I take it most of you never watch hockey. Every team has an enforcer who's job is to intimidate the opposing players and protect his team. It's been that way forever.

The Bertuzzi incident was unfortunate, but did you even know that the Steve Moore incident was retaliation for a cheap shot that Moore laid on Bertuzzi's team captain only 3 weeks earlier?...

"On February 16, 2004, during a Vancouver-Colorado game, player Steve Moore injured Vancouver Canucks team captain Markus Näslund with an elbow to his head while Markus Näslund was skating away from the play with his head down. Markus Näslund suffered a minor concussion and a bonechip in his elbow as a result of the hit. The attending referee did not call a penalty on the play, as it appeared to be a clean hit. The hit was later reviewed by the NHL and no suspension or further discipline was administrated to Moore. This drew the ire of many Vancouver Canucks as their captain was sidelined with a concussion for three games. Canucks head coach Marc Crawford publicly criticized the non-call by the referees on the incident. Canucks general manager Brian Burke criticized Moore after the game, calling him "a marginal player," and accusing him of "headhunting"[1].

During another Vancouver-Colorado game three weeks after the Naslund hit, on March 8, 2004, Steve Moore fought Matt Cooke in the first period. Late in the thrid period, Bertuzzi began following Steve Moore down the ice attempting to instigate a fight. When Moore ignored him, Bertuzzi sucker punched Moore blindly in the side of the head. Bertuzzi yanked back on Moore's jersey and proceeded to slam Moore face first into the ice. At this point, Moore's Colorado teammates retaliated against Bertuzzi, jumping on and around the ensuing pile. Moore suffered three fractured vertebrae in his neck, a grade three concussion, vertebral ligament damage, stretching of the brachial plexus nerves, and facial cuts."

Hockey has a penalty for FIGHTING. It's PART OF THE GAME. Comparing that with a bench clearing NBA brawl because a guy gets a hard foul is a complete joke.
