yes, see, that's what I want to do. Put on a long multi year position in energy. Not too knowledgeable about NG, otherwise, I know what an outright call is. What is a fence?
Also, make sure you understand volatility. Thats is what you will be buying/selling. You may be right directionally for example and get paid very little because you pay for time and volatility. No magic in the options, you still have all sorts of exposure even being long and right.
no kidding. what got me started trading again was I wanted to get long crude. I started buying the mini and shorting the CL calls against it. Didn't take me long to realize that this was a game for somebody with more money than I will ever have. Checked out USO, no dice there very difficult to hold a longterm position in crude or NG or any commodity best I could come up with was buy some stocks that will benefit if NG (or CL) goes up so far so good but still, I like the idea of being long energy, If it goes down everything else I own will go up I'm pretty ignorant on the whole subject, just trying to learn how others do it
your asking all the right questions though! Well a bull spread would do. Buy a call and sell even further out of the money call, so you can only be so right.... give away some upside but it a bit easier to keep on the books..... Yeah I think oil will head back up soon enough... agree with PAPA ROACH too, Nat Gas market January calls look nice...... maybe even a March April spread
I've thought hard about finding a good long term long exposure to ng I never have come up with it . What are the company's your talking that are good plays on long ng
I started to trade the NG again but only trading intraday trends beta testing a newer system. I have not held postions over since the buying I did below the $2.00 level. Doubt I will ever get that incredible buying opportunity again! :-(
I can find good short term intraday trends in both indexes and other commodities. Individual stocks I stay away from.
ya let me guess.. with Renko charts? haha i've never been sucessful being super directional... i wanna practice more
