Nationwide French protest over right to retire at age 60

  1. Use your brain man, Americans are the laziest humans on this earth, that is why they are the fattiest.

If u have ever worked for an american company you would know that 100% of the workers only work for about 20 minutes a day, the rest of the day is standing by the water cooler talking gossip. If you can show me an american that even works one hour a day, I will show you a liar.

If they work 30 min, they will call in sick next day.

I'd rather have european workers of american any day. Europeans don't work a lot of ours but when they do they put 100%.

  4. No wonder so many Brits retire or even better relocate to France, Italy, Spain... Who in hell wants to work all his life like an office freak when there is so many beautiful things to enjoy out there. It's a natural and healthy thought, despite the economical requirement to work harder and longer.

My point is there's more to life than just work and some of us are more enclined to acknowledge that as they live in gorgeous areas.

And the UK weather sucks. :)

Talking about the weather reminds me of another major French problem. The wines of France are known and enjoyed world wide BUT with the changing weather patterns there are serious worries that a warming climate will affect areas like Burgundy and badly affect the traditional quality.

Their problem is just what the UK needs for our wine industry - a bit of extra warmth

  6. Wine quality being a complex matter - grape varieties blend, terroir, climate, etc it's at least one thing that global economies can't easily replicate with similar results. Let's enjoy it while it lasts. cheers!

If we could disintermediate user-centred blogospheres then the answer would doubtless be obvious

LOL... Don't make threads about French being lazy and germans being examples as germans work less in the year than french( 1432 h Vs 1570 h) and french are over the average in EU.

The problem in France is just that the public sector and its workers are huge parasites. Private sector has comparable "ethics" as yours, sorry about that. Nobody wanting to succeed works 35 hours, in France or anywhere else in the world.

There is nothing like 60% of the population making less than 1000 EUR per month.WTF?

These strikes are typical of France. Government workers / unions starting to whine and students following just because it's cool to rebel or simply a mean to miss school.

Nice photo of Bonifacio by the way.
