That is probably, the easiest way to make Mexico pay for the wall!

Keep in mind that international wire transfers (via Western Union, etc.) used to be taxed per transfer. It would be easy to re-impose this tax. This is the most likely path to "make Mexico pay for the wall".

Not only that, but Trump's call for a national emergency will be in District Court in the blinking of an eye, relatively speaking. Immediately following his official declaration, an injunction will be sought and granted. The case will wend its way through the circuit court and land at the Supreme Court, all at light speed. After oral arguments, it won't take the Court long to draft its unanimous, 9-0, opinion. Political disagreements must be resolved via the legislative process. They may not be resolved by declaration of an emergency, particularly without any emergency having been demonstrated. Left with out options, Trump will propound another lie-excuse, and the government will be up and operating. We are likely looking at two weeks at the most.

Importantly, this "Wall" fiasco will mark the beginning of the end of our true national emergency. Trump and his ragtag administration, by now down to rejects, will emerge totally and irreparably emasculated. Whether Trump is left where he is, for political reasons, or removed, will depend on both parties, not just republicans. And in any case nothing will be done until after the Mueller Report.

As soon as the Mueller report is out , and the lying, blaming, and gnashing of teeth subsides, things will move quickly back to normal. The absurd tariff-wall-caravan-terrorist nonsense will be over. Market volatility will move to normal, and life on main street will return to "Honey I'm Home, What's for dinner."

We'll have had our little fling with, "best way to fix somth'n not entirely broke, y'all, is to burn it down, I reckon." It's been instructive in that we learned we don't want to do that again. And we will have used a time honored method to get rid of any fool. Just give them enough rope, be patient, and they'll hang themselves!

There can be only one true question remaining to be answered, and that is, "Does Sarah Huckabee Sanders's history include a lobotomy that her family has tried to covered up?" -- if so, the cover-up has not been entirely successful.

  5. Last I heard, Trump had asked for a legal opinion from white house counsel on the whether he had the authority to do an emergency order for the wall and had not decided.

Meanwhile, the tards already have him before the supreme court with a 9-0 ruling against him.

Might want to see your doctor and figure out what is causing those estrogen mood swings.

I dont doubt that Trump will still threaten it and say he has the power to do it, but it is not by any means a given that he is announcing that he will do that.

There’s still people who believe there were WMDs in Iraq. Don’t be the sucker
I think you might want to consider there are lots and lots of people who fell for the WMD argument as the basis for invading Iraq.

Saying there’s an emergency on the border when illegal crossings have been declining for 10 years now and crossings are at their lowest is on the same level as WMDs.

Under Obama deportations were at historical highs on top of illegal immigrants being at decade lows. Trump has messed up the deportation system through mismanagement and deportations have actually lowered under Trump.

Now the homeland security is arguing there are severe threats coming across our southern border and the press secretary has used a study showing 4000 suspected terrorists and affiliates tried for entry over some amount of time.

Fact checking these very serious claims proves they are fallacious. Those 4000 entrants were mostly through airports and none known at the southern border. The northern border is actually more prone to terrorist entrants. Remember the guy with a car full of explosives trying to make his way into the west coast from Canada?

    It’s all junk.

You say people who disagree with you are brainwashed or part of some nefarious global elite plot but just simply fact checking the justifications for a so called emergency leaves plenty of room for doubt that there is anything more than hyperbole to there being an emergency.

Now I will admit I don’t know the difference if there is one between an emergency declaration or an EO but what I can tell you is that neither are permanent law and by the time this makes it through courts and the land is surveyed and bids accepted Trump will either be on his ass or in prison.

What Trump should do is offer something Democrats actually want in exchange for a border wall, something they do not want.

His bully tactics have never actually worked in any meaningful way I can see. As a deal maker he should make a deal, after the government is reopened.

Might be a good negotiating ploy. You need leverage in any negotiation. If he can make it very costly, for Democrats politically, they might be more inclined to be reasonable! Democrats are whining over tonight's TV coverage. Probably, figure that Democrats will be called out on national TV for all to see! About time. President Trump has extended the olive branch to them but, they keep slapping his hand. He may need to really hunker down and let the Democrats stew if that is their wish!

This should be interesting tonight. Wonder if he'll do it from the Oval Office sitting at his desk, like other Presidents have done when something big needs to be addressed. Knowing Trump, he probably will. He's probably been watching historic tapes in order to properly convey a sense of situational graveness.
    I can already see it.

My take is Trump has no idea what he will do or say tonight because he is in an untenable situation of his own doing.

If there is any way out of this it is for him to declare an emergency order that will most likely fail so he can reopen government and take the actual loss later.

There is no way democrats are giving him a wall, especially based on a tantrum. If he wants to get a wall he will have to give the democrats something very big, like an increase I. The social security tax for incomes over a million dollars or significant student loan reduction—— something big.
