It's a national emergency.Your rights can be put on hold, much like it happens when martial law is instituted.

    Not happenin'.

Martial law can be declared in a national emergency. A national emergency does not necessarily bring martial law with it.

Hence, we haven't had martial law declared since the Civil War.

  3. There's a constitutional right to own them, there is no constitutional right to sell them, or ammo, or magazines. Make no mistake, a dem president will declare a national emergency and that will be the end of being able to legally purchase a weapon.

except martial law isn't necessary to strip rights during a national emergency, hence the use of "much like it happens" in my post.

Like the last Dem President, it would be banner sales for weapons and ammo. How quickly you forget.

  7. Yes, until the executive order was enacted, then all legal purchase would be halted. Declaring national emergencies where there are no real emergencies is a mistake and opens a door to chaos. face the music, Trump blew this.

Think about the mechanics of implementing such an emergency declaration.

I agree that declaring and emergency opens a door to a precedent of a lot of really bad things, and I wouldn't want Trump to do it. But declaring an emergency to build a wall isn't going to do much to the public. The vast majority of the public will continue their lives, undisturbed and reading the news.

A declaration of emergency to do a gun grab is a whole different Pandora's Box to open. The outrage and outright rebellion of police forces, state governments and the general population will be one for the ages, and the ability to actually enforce such a declaration will be almost zero. Additionally - and probably most importantly - building a wall isn't challenging a constitutional right.

Awesome! Can you imagine the value of existing weapons? I'd go out and buy a shit load before it is enacted and then the prices would skyrocket!

And what are they going to do about the ability to 3D print a pistol? Plans are on the internet now. Outlaw 3d printers? Trust me, it won't do shit.
