So, yes, of course there is a difference between the educated and well-trained who leave a country on their own accord and purely for philosophical and economic reasons and on the other hand those who claim persecution and threats to their life as reason to flee their country. And then there are a bunch in the middle that attempt to freeload, they are neither in danger of their life being taken nor do they add much value to a developed nation in terms of valuable contributors. One must differentiate between each group. And that was the precise reason I participated in this thread, because it appeared that all migrants were put into one single bucket and vilified. Those who differentiate and criticize uncontrolled migration but otherwise are open to consider welcoming those who add value to their society are from my experience those worth debating with. There are a few others, including some in this thread, who reject everything foreign and claim they want to live a "pure" life. Ironically they are the ones driving the cheapest Kia, constantly shop the cheapest Chinese import products on Amazon but on chat board they play the big Kahuna and swing the nationalist axe.
First of all, this ET forum is titled "EliteTrader" and it is a financial trading forum where we discuss issues related to financial trading. We do have a section called "Politics" and this thread should really be in that section and not in the "Commodities Futures" when there is not one post with regards to the trading of commodities futures. Second of all, with regards to immigration, the issue here is not massive immigration vs. controlled immigration. The issue is that immigration should be at the sole discretion of the host country and should be decided only by the host country and no one else; it's the sovereign right of any country. And no country is obligated to receive anyone. The quality of the potential immigrants or whatever is irrelevant. "Rejecting anything foreign and claim they want to live a 'pure' life'" is every single citizen's right and it has nothing to do with nationalism. It has to do with the freedom and the right to be able to decide what goes on in one's own country just like one has the right to decide what goes on in one's own house. Do you accept every single homeless person on the street if they show up at your door? If not, then shut up!! Don't accuse others of not doing something when you are not able to do it at all yourself!! And with regards to cheap imports, that's a business issue. If you resent people buying the cheapest Chinese import from Amazon, DON'T f***ing sell them there!! People are more than happy not to have an Amazon littered with cheap Chinese crap with the ten thousand fake reviews! Again, like I said, that's a business issue. Don't mix business with political issues or worse put some "nationalism" spin on it. That's what landed China in hot water in the first place. Trump just wanted to have a bit more favourable trade deals with China and China had to point to some wars that happened in the 19th century, TWO centuries ago and accuse the United States of imperialism when China is going all over the place even to Afghanistan to be in bed with terrorists like the Talibans just for some cheap inputs. Yeah that's not imperialism. LOL Talking about irony...
