Somebody had to start this thread; why not me?

The bigger they are, the harder they fall. [1][2]

Part of me thinks that they just got greedy. Effing $1700 for an iPhone? !$#@*!$ ^$@% $*(^@@#.[3]

Also chafing is that they won't let Huawei into the US, citing security issues, which kinda pisses me off. Half of me thinks that they're just protecting Apple, which has become a bit of a darling in the U.S. market. [4]

What does a $1,700 Iphone X whatever do differently over a $300 iphone 6, that one feels compelled to spend an extra $1,400 bux on it? What is the "MUST HAVE" feature there that would cause one to shell out that level if dosh for some extra features?

The problem isn't the company's pricing of the item...It is that people keep paying that price for features they "think" they need, but do not.

Runaway consumerism, the ruin of the world. People are sheeple. Never forget that.

From the AAPL p&l report, unit shipment of all products are flat for the past 3 years and yet revenue increases. So, the only thing that attribute to this is the rising ASP. In other words, AAPL products are getting pricy. It's OK if AAPL is the only smartphone seller. But there are plenty of alternatives... Samsung, Sony and all the Chinese brands.

Actually agree on the Huawei fears. Not that I doubt they're incapable of installing spy software, just that I'm not 100% sure those fears are well founded.

Could'nt agree more! Most of the so-called features offered by an iphone are now available in almost all the other smartphones. Its just that these guys know that they have an established brand for which people will pay anything. Frankly, its just show-off! You can get a similar software with same features at much lower costs in other brands
