NASA's mission to bomb the Moon

Now that is so mundane.. are you sure that's all there is to it?

Bomb the Moon? Why is that such a shocker. It's in our backyard afterall.

Worse news is that humans could pretty much nuke any site anywhere in the solar system! (Anywhere you can send a probe, you could send a bomb).

So...the human capacity for self-destruction is always in hot pursuit of the human instinct for exploration.

 

We put a probe into Jupiters atmosphere about 8 years ago that was powered by a nuclear reactor. Some scientists were concerned what would happen when it was crushed by the atmosphere of hydrogen, helium. Would it go critical and start a chain reaction etc. We were lucky apparently or rather Jupiter was.

 

Well plus boys just wanna have fun.

 

And to make rocket fuel.

Split water = Hydrogen plus Oxygen.

 

And how exactly is that going to work?

 

By splitting apart water. Electrolysis?

Liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen is good rocket fuel.

 

Good point also, while the primary power will be Solar and Nuclear they could also use the hydrogen in fuel cells to power Rovers etc.
