  2. Seems to me I read that market makers "in the legitimate course of their market making duties" are exempt from reg SHO. That would leave only deep pockets shorting ALTI.

I'd rather be long against retail shorts myself.

Man I wish I was part of the joyous celebration :(

I got in before market open at $5.70 watched it run to 6.50 with a huge smile on my face.

Needless to say that smile was erased quickly. I went against every sensible bone in my body on that long and I got screwed. I feel like such a idiot.

When it ran upto 6.50 the way it did I was expecting it to hit $7.00 and then retrace for the day....that was where I was gonna take profit....$6.90. Sure ruined what could have been a nicely profitable day for me all around.

I hang my head in shame

NGEN on sale yesterday at $4.60.

Over $5.00 in pre market this morning no news.

Didn't continue though. quickly traded back under $5.00 then I moved on and didn't see how it finished.

    what's up with that??

  5. This sector rocket ride is STILL just in the infancy stages....get on board while you still have time......this is one of the biggest long term plays IMO.....

    From July of 2003.....

NANOTECHNOLOGY is the current infant big thing! Time is the only book for this story.....start turning the pages and read.

  6. 95% of these companies won't make it long term. It's an intellectual property based industry. 10 firms compete for R&D, only 1 survives. Even if you get all 10 companies in your long term portefolio to be sure you have stocks of the successful one, i doubt it's profitable.

Just jump in once one as made a marketable breakthrough. There will still be much up-room to go then.

You got to KNOW what nano is from a scientific standpoint and know what it is capable of from an economic standpoint, then pick wisely which firms your gonna bet on. Some talk of nanorobots :) I doubt you will have a big retirement account betting on that :) Better to swing trade on forex...

I think the most profitable application of nano will be new material to replace steel or the like. Simple, basic, lot of demand for that.

True....but this is a SECTOR that one must pay attention too for a great LONG term play....it is the idea that counts. What other sector at this time has the same exponential "ideas" as nanotechnology. The ideas and their capabilities are what power explosive growth, and you are right that one must do their due diligence in picking the best horses here.

  8. Well, the other day ALTI sure got my attention... now am tracking many of those stocks mentioned in an earlier post but even with a hard science background (inorganic chem), I am not sure how to get my hands around this stuff. May just wimp out and buy a fund so I can forget about it and not have to actively manage it, especially since it will probably be a wild ride for the next 5-8 years... but somewhere there is the next MSFT, just wish I knew where?

IMHO, the place NOT to be is in biopharm nanotech. Those membranes, etc.. have been around at least 20 years and while there have been incremental advances, there hasn't been anything that I think is new news, enough to justify a heavy investment. I do like fuel cell components & carbon nanotubes & assembly apparatuses. But still feel not really intelligent enought to discuss this area for at least a year.

However, may buy some ALTI on a dip back to 2-3 or so.

  9. I'm just saying a nonotech fund invested 100% in the nanotech sector today might not get a good return longterm because of what i said.

I think it's just better to be patient and wait. The big compagny, the big success story that will happen, we will all see it it will be hard to miss.

True it is THE sector to watch.

Why do i get the feeling that the first major breakthrough will be in the military department?.......

You are right there....the breakthrough was with a military use....

    "A.P. 21:32:54 09FEB05

The U.S. today has confirmed that "nanocams" have been in use to gather intel in the country of Iran. Small "nanocams" the thickness of only 5 carbon atoms were attached genetically to the anal cavity of the common fly. The fly's were then deployed according to a senior military spokesman by operatives in the highest offices of the Iranian government. It has now been confirmed that Iran's government leaders do not pose a threat at this time to the U.S. as most of their government officials days are spent viewing internet porn sites."
