Traders need to develop their own trading methods, but if, for example, the OP had asked before selling 3 unhedged calls on GME. Most here would have said Are. You. Freakin. Crazy??? DON'T DO IT
its real easy to say after the event, this was before it went berserk, GME ~41.16, so selling the 60calls at no extra margin was not difficult, as was also short 3 puts from days before. would rolling it out months of prevented the liquidation? as a rule of thumb, was the initial margin already high for the account , net liq ~$61k. any tips to ensure any future trades don't breach a rule? eg each trade has to be less than 10% of net liq? dont do naked calls?
