Sadly Joe could've shut this shit down a few weeks into the conflict instead of throwing the election and sacrificing our democracy for an Orban wannabe.

But Biden is not alone in criticizing Netanyahu and neither it is a new criticism.

I have discussed previously how Israel's seizing of land and settlements in the West Bank are not helpful. Most likely any peace agreement establishing a two-state solution would require most of these settlements to be given back (and align with the earlier deal offered to Arafat).

The conflict between Jews and Muslims in the decades since WW2 have a long tangled history. Maybe everyone needs to be reminded that the surrounding Arab countries and Palestinians declared war on Israel multiple times attempting to wipe out the country and kill all of the Jews. In this light there is not much empathy offered to Palestinians for the issues they have endured. Their constant sourcing of terrorism, failure to accept any of the peace solutions offered over the years, and failure to establish a serviceable government has led to the current unfortunate situation.

For the international amount of aid Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank have received over the years, they would be all living in upper middle class flats and have a thriving economy. Unfortunately most of the funds were stolen to support terrorism or land up in the pockets of a select few.

I have previously outlined multiple times that the right-wing Netanyahu government does not support peace via a two-state solution -- and has done everything possible to undermine it. I have asserted regularly that a more moderate Israeli government will need to be put in place to allow for peace. This would be the second step in a two step solution. The first necessary step is eliminating Hamas as a governing and militant entity in Gaza, only after this is completed can discussions occur about the steps forward to peace and a two-state solution.

What is this weak ass criticism?

Stealing is not helpful? Is that supposed to be a revelation?

Israel's hard right which Netanyahu is part of wants this conflict, they fund Hamas, they want what's going on.

There's no viable long term plan playing out here, now Israel has spawned the seeds of a new generation of intense Israel hatred even if they manage to "eliminate Hamas". Biden should have shut this down a week or two into it.
