Do you also use any of the other market internals like breadth ratio, advance/decline or tick or you find them insignificant ?
Not trying to break your balls here .. buts it’s the proper entry that prevents one from getting stopped prematurely... charts and indicators are the parameters that provide a visual to proper entry, RR scenarios etc... All Good, Ken... Good trading, Steve
in the past for my swing trade which i hold for multiple days, weeks and month. i was taught by my mentor to buy it end of the day and only if the stock were still going up by end of the day. what is your entry for swing trade during the day? do you buy it in the morning or end of the day?
They're so critical, I used to use tick but now just TRIN & VIX. A useful momentum indicator? I custom created that's very useful is simply a big SPY 4 1-minute closeup candle chart. Great for following directional volatility, it's in lower right here: Mad a big difference, roll ur own version in ur chart software, just show most-recent 4 minutes SPY. I've got TRIN tape right above it Another tip: I trade pre & post mkt, using 1min chart showing extended hours:
Where should I draw the line? I was testing option expiry of between 1-5 days. By long term I meant long term results from short term trades: If I keep trading the same way (1-5 days) for 25 year, making the same consistent assumptions on IV.
I see 1-5 days as short term swing... anything outside of 20 trading days/ 1 month would be an investor TF to me...
That's mostly correct, best time to add to an existing swing is 3:30 - 4pm, if closing at 2day high. I often buy a bit premkt or during the open if above prior days high then scale up into the close if at 2day high. Worst entries for any style is choppy in the middle of prior days range, like SPY was on Friday
Not sure what you meant by that but nobody is supposed to know whats going to happen in the next hour, we'd all be billionaires if there was some way to know for sure. This has been the most profitable month for me like ever, I had some pretty epic months in 2008/2009 but none have even come close to this, I mean the market is making intraday moves that usually take months or even years to complete, I trade like 1/3 my usual size now but I'm getting up to 10 times the profit I usually get per trade. No disrespect to the OP but I agree with Clubber that you should be printing money in these markets, most competent traders thrive in such markets.
Agree, for me 9k this past month is good, which is still chickenshit... I should be trading size in this volatility. Example: I posted here January 24th TVIX one year high volume but only made a few k trading it from 60 to 940.
