Got two signals tonight. First was to go LONG on the ES contract, which I did at $1,291.25. The second was to go LONG on the NQ contract. Since I was SHORT on that one, it meant closing that trade and opening a new one, which I did at $1,947.50. That resulted in a loss of 58.25 points, or -$1,165. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - LONG @ 1,947.50 Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092 ES mini (ESU8) - LONG @ 1,291.25 Closed equity: +$325 Open equity: - $1,881.25 (that pound trade is a real killer!) 10 down, 20 to go.
Two signals tonight: go SHORT on the NQ contract, and go LONG the long bond, USU8. The NQ short meant exiting the existing NQ long, which I did at $1,946.00, for a loss of 1.5 points, or -$30. I opened the LONG USU8 position at 116-7. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - SHORT @ 1,946 Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092 ES mini (ESU8) - LONG @ 1,291.25 Long bond (USU8) - LONG @116-7 Closed equity: +$295 Open equity: - $4,768 (that pound trade could sink this whole thread if it doesn't get better) 11 down, 19 to go.
Another two signal evening. First, OUT of the ES trade, which I exited at 1,296.50, for a profit of 5.25 points, or $262.50. Secondly, OUT of the long bond contract, which was exited at 116-21.5, for a profit of 14.5/32nds, or $453.13. So, two modest winners. Better than nothing, but we really need some BIG winners. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - SHORT @ 1,946 Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092 Closed equity: +$1,011 Open equity: - $5,616 (we're staring over the edge of the abyss here) 13 down, 17 to go.
Got a LONG signal after the close on Friday for the long bond contract, which I executed at the open tonight @ 117-19. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - SHORT @ 1,946 Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092 30-year bond ((USU8) - LONG @117-19 Closed equity: +$1,011 Open equity: - $5,279 13 down, 17 to go.
One of these days I'm going to forget to post this info, like I almost did tonight! But better late than never. Lots of activity tonight. First, the ES signalled LONG, and I executed that trade at $1,280.25. Then the EN signal went LONG, which meant closing out the existing short, of course. I did that at $1,941.75, for a profit of 4.25 points, or $85. Not much profit, but better than being underwater, which it was. Finally, I got a SHORT signal on the long bond contract, so I opened that position (and closed the existing LONG position) at 118 - 1.5. That generated a profit of 14.5/32nds, or .453125 points, which is $453.125 in this case. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - LONG @ 1,941.75 Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092 30-year bond ((USU8) - SHORT @118 - 1.5 S&P mini (ESU8) - LONG @ 1,280.25 Closed equity: +$1,549.13 Open equity: - $4,723.75 15 down, 15 to go. Hmm, we're at the halfway point. Things are going OK, with one *huge* glaring exception: the last pound sterling trade. That has the potential to wreck this whole effort, but I'm continuing on either way.
Got a signal to exit the long bond trade, which I did at 118 - 1. I was surprised when I looked up the entry price to find that this short was opened at 118 -1.5, so we made a profit of 1/2 of a thirty-second. Doesn't get any skinnier than that! (not with this contract, anyhow) The actual profit was $15.63. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - LONG @ 1,941.75 Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092 S&P mini (ESU8) - LONG @ 1,280.25 Closed equity: +$1,564.76 Open equity: - $5,710
Well, today was the painful day I knew was coming. I got a signal to exit the pound sterling contract, which I did at $1.8731. That's a loss of 7.08 points at $625/point, or -$4,425. Ouch! As Ben Franklin said "things that hurt instruct", and I think I got some good instruction here. I have some ideas as to how to avoid this in the future, but that discussion will have to wait until later. I got another signal tonight to go LONG on the 30-yr T-bond, which I did at $117 - 1.5. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - LONG @ 1,941.75 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092 S&P mini (ESU8) - LONG @ 1,280.25 30yr bond (USZ8) - LONG @ 117 - 1.5 Closed equity: - $2,860 Open equity: +$357 17 down, 13 to go.
Got two signals after the close Friday, which I executed tonight. First, I closed the ES position by selling at $1,291.50. Since I had gone long at 1,280.25, that's a profit of 11.25 points, or $562.50. I also got a signal to exit the Japanese yen position, which I did at $.9090. I had gone long at $.9092, so that was a loss of .0002, or -$25.00. That reminds me, this might be a good time to mention that in this thread I'm only testing the ability of the software to generate useful trading signals, without any money management overlaid on top. For example, I actually sold some of these Yen contracts last Thursday at $.9255, for a profit of over $2K per contract. However, that was not a result of any signals from the software, but rather due to my own money management strategy, and I'm therefore not counting it for the purposes of this thread. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - LONG @ 1,941.75 30yr bond (USZ8) - LONG @ 117 - 1.5 Closed equity: - $2,323 Open equity: -$456 19 down, 11 to go.
I was just reconciling the trades in the journal, and I noticed that I had not included the Naz trade at the bottom of page 2 of the journal in my trade count. So, the correct count now is: 20 down, 10 to go.
Several signals tonight: first, a SHORT for the USZ8 contract, so I exited the long position at $117 - 24.5, for a gain of .71875 point, or $718.75. Next, a LONG signal on the yen contract, which I bought at $.9151. Finally, a LONG signal on the S&P mini, which I bought at $1,267.50. The current status is as follows: Open Positions: Naz100 mini (NQU8) - LONG @ 1,941.75 30yr bond (USZ8) - SHORT @ 117 - 24.5 Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ $.9151 S&P mini (ESU8) - LONG @ $1,267.50 Closed equity: - $1,604 Open equity: -$876 21 down, 9 to go.
