  1. Your signals are not working.

    It's time to move on.

  2. Got a signal tonight to exit the Naz e-mini short, so I covered at 1,815. That yielded a profit of 1,856.5 - 1,815 = 41.5 points, or + $830.

The current status is as follows:

    Open positions

    Japanese Yen (JYU8) - SHORT @ .9277
    S&P mini (ESU8) - LONG @ 1,260.75
    30-yr bond (USU8) - SHORT @115 - 31

    Closed equity: - $1,388.13

We're now moving in the right direction, let's see how long it lasts.

  3. Well, it was very nice to see all the trades in the black today, that doesn't happen that often. Of course, it will be even nicer to close those puppies in the black, because in the futures world things can change very quickly, as we all know.

Because of that, I was glad to get a signal tonight to close the bond trade. I covered the short at 115-6.5, for a profit of .765625 point, or $765.63.

Given the big drop in gold today, I was not that surprised tonight when I got a new signal to go LONG on gold, which I filled at $881.20. Frankly, looking at that gold chart is scary. I don't think I would say it's the bottom. But that's what I have the computer for, to make these executive decisions. I'm just the lackey that carries out its orders. (Unless I fire it, of course)

The current status is as follows:

    Open positions

    Japanese Yen (JYU8) - SHORT @ .9277
    S&P mini (ESU8) - LONG @ 1,260.75
    Gold (GCU8) - LONG@ 881.20

    Closed equity: - $622.50

    5 down, 25 to go!

  4. A nice volatile day today, and since volatility is the trader's friend, that's good. Lots to report, so let's get at it.

First the ES system signalled to go SHORT (it was LONG). I went short at 1,289.00, and since I had gone long at 1,260.75, that's a profit of 28.25 points, or $1,412.50. Nice!

Then I got a signal to exit the Yen trade. This was no surprise, since the yen took its biggest drop in many months today. I was short at .9277, and covered at .9125, for a gain of $1,900.00. Even nicer!

I also got two more new signals. First, a SHORT on the NQ mini, which I executed at 1,889.25. And secondly, a LONG signal on the british pound, which I bought at 1.9439.

So, after all that activity, here's where we stand, if I didn't make a math mistake:

    Open Positions:

    S&P mini (ESU8) - SHORT @ 1,289.00
    Gold (GCU8) - LONG@ 881.20
    Naz100 mini (NQU8) - SHORT @ 1,889.25
    Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439

Closed equity: + $2,690.00. It's nice to be able to put a plus sign in front of that number, it seems like it's been a long time coming.

    7 down, 23 to go!

  5. Got an OUT signal on the gold contract tonight, and sold at $869.70, for a loss of 11.5 points, or $1,150. Ouch!

I'm not very happy with my performance trading gold. I don't mean just here in the journal (which obviously sucks), but overall. I'm planning to halt gold trading until I can find a fix, and then paper trade any new system for a while to get comfortable that it's working. It may be that this software is not well suited to gold. I definitely have to work on that some more.

As I type, the ES trade is nicely in the black, it would be great if it stays that way to offset the gold debacle. We'll see.

The current status is as follows:

    Open Positions:

    S&P mini (ESU8) - SHORT @ 1,289.00
    Naz100 mini (NQU8) - SHORT @ 1,889.25
    Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439

    Closed equity: + $1,540

    8 down, 22 to go!

  6. Got an OUT signal on the S&P e-mini after the close on Friday, and I covered tonight at 1,290.00, for a loss of 1 point, or $75.

The current status is as follows:

    Open Positions:

    Naz100 mini (NQU8) - SHORT @ 1,889.25
    Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439

    Closed equity: +$1,465.

    9 down, 21 to go!

  7. Oops, on that last trade, a one-point loss would be -$50, not -$75. Duh!

So the new equity total is +$1,490.

That is good, because the current positions are so far underwater I need every dollar I can find.

  8. Got a signal to go long on the yen tonight, so I bought that contract at $.9092.

The current status is as follows:

    Open Positions:

    Naz100 mini (NQU8) - SHORT @ 1,889.25
    Pound (BPU8) - LONG @ 1.9439
    Yen (JYU8) - LONG @ .9092

    Closed equity: +$1,490.

    9 down, 21 to go.

  9. you should post open equity as well, so we can see drawdown....

anyone can hold a trade until it shows a profit, unless you run out of money first.

  10. Well, given the number of losses I've posted, I think it's pretty clear I'm not holding trades until they show a profit!

But that's a fair point, I'll start doing it.
