my trading...

  1. sure thing:

instead of trading the stock (EBAY in this case) .. i elected to trade the stock option ..

so in this case since i was looking for a long entry .. the calls .. i also chose to pick a strike price that was in the money ..

i elected the JAN 80 calls .. which have intrinsic value = to the price of EBAY minus the strike price ($80) + some time value since they would expire tomorrow ..

basically, i was trading EBAY for $3-4 per share rather than $80.

    1 contract = 100 shares

that roundtrip i was long 75 contracts (equal to 7500 shares)

    hope that helped ..

  2. Yes it did. I have never traded options/futures but this is an area I would like to learn about. Did you learn by trial and error or is there a publication of some sort you believe is worthwhile to review on the subject?

As I watched the market this morning I thought the set-up appeared ideal for the gap down/snap back that is great for trading. I did not anticipate that the snap back would be as strong as it was in the first half hour, but it provided both good long and short opportunities. In addition, I traded KLAC and AMAT in the after hours on the heels of KLAC's good earnings report. Overall it was another real good volatility day which earning's season brings. Tomorrow should open up positive after the past two sellof days but you never know (and I just noticed the headline that Sony has warned and the Japanese techs are sinking).

  3. hey zoner ..

i have always worked w/ options ... lots of different strategies you can apply .. great leverage tool ..

i would recommend a basic book on options so that you may grasp their dynamics and apply them to your own strategy..

again .. its just another weapon in your arsenal:cool:

I lightly experimented with Play and Syna this am. Id be interested in any comments you might have. (i had 2 adds on syna as it rose) only ended up with .16 gain when i covered as i felt my avg cost for entry overall wasnt that great. On Play i only got 1 lot and banked .50.

Thanks in advance and have a great day.

    -Raider.

PS. Hey Reid id love to see what you end up doing today too.

  5. looked like someone unloaded QCOM at the open this am and i took advantage of an easy bounce

    9:33:23 Buy 1000 QCOM at 36.15 on ARCA (1000 traded @ 35.9827) Executed

    9:34:18 Sell 1000 QCOM at 36.60 on ARCA (1000 traded @ 36.6000) Executed

SYNA set up nicely but then gave me mixed signals... so i dumped it for a scratch ... of course SYNA then proceeded to sell off ... can't win em all'

    9:38:31 SellShort 1000 SYNA at 36.39 on ARCA (1000 traded @ 36.3900) Executed

    9:44:49 Buy 1000 SYNA at 36.36 on ARCA (1000 traded @ 36.3600) Executed

  6. normally i don't trade these and truthfully, the only reason i made this trade was out of complete boredom.

Lost .12 on the first trade ..

  7. SYNA: I do not go long stocks with big opening gaps, they tend to have a small trading range.
CVC and FST today are what I look for. When CVC broke through 27.50 (10:14am) it was doing 3.7ml shares on 2.1ml shares average vol. Currently CVC is at 628% of average vol, no surprise. That's how I like it. But I did'nt do any trades today. Will be back Monday.
I never ask traders to post their trades and when they do I do not know if it's fact or fiction, and what am I supposed to do with that information, anyway. I did it once on this thread/board and will not keep doing it. If you beleive that I know what I'm talking about, you can learn from it.
PLAY: If you had it as a short and entered when it broke below 22.00 after the bounce, you're in the money.

  8. I nailed this setup today, after watching a nice setup in WYNN pass this morning. Issue way oversold on daily and down 9 bars (3min) with increase volume at the lows.

Takes some patience, and learnig to deal with some heat but Mark you have found a nice pattern.

    Good job,
