cr8or, thanks for the sharing, the detail and effort which has gone into this thread.
I myself won't use any of this stuff as I have my own system working well.
But that's besides the point, we appreciate your positive contribution.
Hope you stick around and continue to participate in ET.
Anyhow those who I believe know a thing or two about trading go into my 'Followers' drawer on ET, the trolls quickly get shoved into the ET ignore bin, it all helps to keep one's sanity.
Thanks again, "You're a little beauty mate" (kiwi/ozzy term of recognition)

This is VERY good cr8or. I use a similar system, so I was interested to see what you had to say. Thank you.

I use the 5-8-13-32-64 EMA. I have modified two of my charts with your numbers 3-5-9-13-55-89. I tried different time charts and tick charts and it seems to work very much like my system. I will try it when the market opens tomorrow.

I also wrote some code to show on the chart a visual clue as to the price above or below the EMA. It is basically 6 boxes with the numbers 3|5|9|13|55|89 the background is green when above and red below. As the price starts moving up I see the boxes start to turn green and visa versa. I also use a few other indicators to help me trade.

Thanks again, I look forward to your next post.

May I ask what was the motivation behind you joining ET to show a bunch of strangers your trading system?

Well, I believe sharing knowledge and ideas is the only way to progress in every field including trading.
If I found something that is good, very profitable, there must be others that have found also great things I don't know about. So, if we all share what we have everybody gains and we progress further and benefit.
Isn't that what this community is all about? Please, do correct me if I'm wrong.

    Cheers

    Yes and no.
Sharing is great, but maybe not with strangers in regards to trading.
Trading is not a group event, it is very much singular, every other trader becomes your competitor.
Football teams share ideas, but not with other teams, I can't see how trading could be different.

Well on ET lots of ideas are bandied about and sharing does happen, but it's rare to see somone describe in detail how they trade from A to Z.
Personally I can't see any harm in what you've done, I was just interested in the motivation for a new member to post up front their methods.
I'm guessing 99% of ET traders don't use EW and maybe 50% use MA's of some sort, I use neither.
Fibs - not that common either I would guess.
Anyhow thanks for the reply, maybe with luck positive feedback chatter will begin to flow, an open mind is definitely a questioning mind.

While I like to keep things on topic… I view with amusement and somewhat astonishment that you would look at other retail traders as “competitors”.

This thread, cr8or’s thread, has been permeated with such negativity, that this seems par for the course.

I look at the sharing of methods positively and overall a GOOD thing. Besides, someone can give you’re their best strategy. It doesn’t mean that you will be able to execute.

Now, if you are a hedge fund manager, or managing big money… such as Black Rock, Goldman, Tiger Global, etc. Then you may see those as competitors as they can move markets.

This seems somewhat hypocritical as you had a thread “Themickey’s Journal” where you shared your personal details, your thoughts and entries…. All with “strangers”!!

To ALL fellow traders. Please keep sharing. Most of us are interested … that’s why we are here.

First time here mate. So don't make allegations.
You have antagonized a few people in the past I see.

If you put all retail traders in one basket, they don't match a serious hedge fund or bank, so my answer is: they are no competitors to me. 95% of retailers loose money because they are taught to trade that way. If you set your mind to think like institutions do, you'll see why this approach is very different than retail.
I know a trader who is short gold for months and stubborn in doing so. He has been forced to hedge, make losses. That's a retail mind, a biased mind set.
Anyway, thanx for supporting my free share.

    Cheers

  10. I fully agree with this. I don't understand why many retail traders place so much emphasis on secrecy.
