The strategy let a great trade slip through, one that would have finally put it as net positive since going live..... It waited too long after this drop started before it got out, so ended up only making $125 after being up around $1700 at one point.. Exits continue to be a maybe road block for my strategies. If I can ever figure out that issue my strategies would print money....
Thanks to the fact it reversed when it got out that long earlier, it is now severely in the red on this short trade.... Exits, need exits
yes in my trading fantasy - I sit on a park bench at the worlds best beach and yell buy and a few minutes later sell million share blocks at a time... and I am always making money.
it is all in your head... you set your own ceiling. http://www.thesecretstory.com/Watch_The_Secret_Movie_Free.html
Exits are just as important, if not more important, than entries IMO. You can have great entries and still lose money. I have a few ideas but since this thread is not about sharing, I'll keep them to myself.
brownsfan, Its correct the thread is not about sharing specific details... however, I am willing to answer questions as long as they don't give away too much...
I still believe this strategy over long term will be profitable, and that the strategy is simply still in a normal draw down period. So I will continue to run it. My dues for collective2 are paid until 5/09. So it will run at least until then. At which point if its still not profitable I will not renew. This strategy does have some inherent flaws. Namely exits. Which is prompting me to begin work on a second strategy based off of some of the same ideas. In this next strategy their are several improvements/changes I am hoping to make: 1. Use constant range bars instead of time bars 2. Replace all of the core "SCT" components with other ways of looking at price action. 3. Use stops and or better money management Right now I am only in the "research" stage. Looking at lots of constant range charts, trying to identify the patterns I hope to exploit. The primary premise around this strategy will still incorporate a lot of the basic ideas from SPM however. In the coming weeks I will start a separate thread for the development of that strategy so that this thread remains on point for this current strategy. The new thread may be a "little" more open and sharing...
I realize you are trying to automate a ATM machine here Frost and want to keep it secret, but you can't expect to keep it secret meanwhile wanting help to get there. Also, I've watched your journals for a bit now and ever think it's time to maybe trying to learn how to trade live yourself? Can't help but think you'd be further along the path to enlightenment by being in it daily.
