I have a similar strategy.... but I short top gainers especially those who have a price spike on low volume... most stocks shorted 8:10-8:30 a.m. if stock gained more than 15% and pre-market volume is, say, below 5% I will 100% stort that stock.... at the same time I "long" top loosers, especially those who dropped too high on relatively low volume...
If you are bored and want to watch along with me: Today: TGX (3.85) CR (39.98) GYI (46.99) UNM (21.66) ITW (49.93) KCI (46.93) also, added AKH (45.10) only because TGX was such a mini. As of 10:30: TGX- 4.14 CR - 40.95 GYI - 47.64 UNM - 21.58 ITW - 50.37 KCI- 46.60 AKH - 45.17 up around $2000. Looking like a good day, but ya never know! I wonder if it would make sense to drop the losers at say 10:30 or 11am and double up on the winners at that point. Like I said, I am always looking to improve my results.
Hmm, I missed something. At 10:00 on yahoo.com here's what I saw for the top 6 gainers: JOB WEX ALGN CPRX AKH-WT ACEL
yes Ricter you did miss something. I guess as simple as my method is, there would still be people who would f*** it up.

One thing that I cannot get a handle on is this: Take a look at the charts for CR and KCI today. This is why I have a hard time trying to sift through the list and pick which will be the good ones and which will be the duds. CR was looking great at first then fizzled and is killing my portfolio right now. KCI looked like a sure fire dud for the day. Was going down and down and DOWN. I'd have thought for sure that it would never come back and would drag down the results for the day, but then for god only knows reason, it is going gang busters now! Until I can find a reasonably accurate tool that will tell me which ones to keep and which to dump, I guess I am going to stick to just buy and hold with the 6. peace.
I've been short CR for a while because it hasn't had an uptick since 10am. Especially once it broke the lows there's no reason to be long. Why not implement some stops at major break points? Could have saved you a dollar on CR.
