As a novice, I´ll stick up for Babu, Don Bright and Atticus. They have given me some good hints. I think they are good friends. If I am still losing money, it is my fault. This week I lost -$780 in my small account. Nice to see I was right afterward and got out early. Unfortunately I went trading oversize in a hurry to make back my losses and it turned around and bit me. Instead of making the $1200 I planned on, lost -$780, but still in ball park very minimally so will trade again. However my understanding of things is growing, so long as I can keep my account above the level needed to make me feel comfortable, I´m okay. At the moment I don´t know what to do with this bear drop. Probably nothing but watch. Unfortunately my June goal of $10,000 is now not going to be reached. Which is disappointing. I´m going to revise my approach from career to hobby, and treat it accordingly.
That is almost always going to be a mistake. As far as what to do in this bear market, I am doing pretty well trading SPY puts. Now I am a small trader like you are but I rolled the July 141 today, which was like 81 delta. Locked in a $300 profit on that one. Rolled to the July 137 (68 delta) and that trade is up over $90 since I did it. Of course, I could lose that tomorrow.
