Crashed to $1, when your follow Master Van's methods you bail after the Market gives you a double or triple. That's why Baron and Van don't allow Penny Stocks for Grandma.
for post virus 'granny get out of the house with her pooch' a healthy granny should now be looking at travel & leisure stocks, in particular Avis car rental $car she can fly to Vegas on UAL, DAL or AAL, rent an Avis ($car), stay at MGM
I think you can post it if it trades 500K shares. Magna's keeping 6' from every post so you might slide one by either way. Social distancing and all. I'll have to look at it. What they do, figure out a cure for Corona?
My grandma is dead. I have her stocks. My cost basis in Exxon is $3 so I'm not that worried it's down so much.
I've had three grandmas. One on my step fathers side was a big lady she lived on 86th street. she played basketball in high school & college and wore a wig and lipstick all over her face. Then my mom's mom she lived uptown on 59th street Imperial House. Great building. Her husband is the one who invested in stocks. He and his partner in a cardboard box firm in Long Island they used to hang out at a local stock parlor and they had their own ticker tape machine.. How cool is that.. this beautiful glass covered geared up machine for years was in Grandma's closet until i went looking for it after her death. It was gone. Guess what went for about ten stand on Antique roadshow? Big mystery.... Still mad about this. My real Dad's mom she lived up in Boston out by he ocean Manchester by the sea... she drove jeeps as a red cross gal in WW1 in France, her kissing cousin was Harry Crosby a poet and someone who there is a good deal of inside me... her side of the family is the one that directly links me to plants, farming, Barbados, and ultimately John Adams.
If I was recommending a buy and hold position for Granny I'd say VUG. This ETF has outperformed both MCD and SPY
That is so cool, I love stuff like that. We got broken into while on vacation way back when and they stole a bunch of junk, but the one thing that really pissed me off was I had an old old nickle-slot machine that worked perfect. It had this politically incorrect theme of old west dancing girls (hookers) with big boobs. I kept it loaded with nickles. It was always the hit of any party. Still pisses me off.
Van A Grandma stock would have to have a high Div % rate correct-? MCD at 2.4% I don't think that's enough for granny to live on! You have to remember price appreciation means nothing to granny she is going to pass the stk and burden perhaps onto you. We can do better-- the warehouse guys for Pot growers yields 3.7% IIPR- $114.63 3.46(+3.11%) But wait Granny might not be into that concept. So What about Solar. Solar is hot right now and only going to get hotter just like the earth itself. SUNS- 9% yield Granny-! That will get you out of your chair! Pays monthly.... low price // $13.37 0.22(+1.67% But wait these guys are not a solar company... Carey has maintained high rental collections during the pandemic but is priced for elevated risks. A near 6% yield in a high-quality, diversified net lease REIT with risk free rates near zero is compelling. The company has the time and management focus to cope with long-term technology driven change affecting its tenants. The market is pricing W. P. Carey (WPC) for risks that may well not become reality. Income investors should look to go against the current risk-averse pricing and buy.
