How do you think IB works? Opening tickets is not the way to go. This is a feature and not a defect, so you'd need to open up a features poll and with plenty of backers, it would be added. Features are added but don't expect it within days or even a few weeks. Tickets and support are for real technical problems, for example recently I noticed part of the API documentation on 3rd party algos was wrong and the algo in question was being rejected without a proper error exception, they were quick to solve the issue.
vwap orders are generally not accepted from retail clients with one well known exception. what use is having a vwap on a chart without having vwap order entry capability are you going to trade around it?
Same as any other point on a chart that gives you insight into other market participants' likely decision points. I'd say it's quite a bit more valuable to reverse engineering the orders than it is to filling them. It's also a nice contextual indicator for filtering noise.
LOL @ the Features Poll. The average time from voting to implementing is about 5 years.. THe only way to get something done is to get to know one or two key people at IB.
Meanwhile, their latest TWS update managed to wipe out most of my preset orders and reset all of my limits to defaults. But, of course, it's my problem, because I have somehow been a neglectful parent to my once-pristine settings file, which apparently must be re-created from scratch every year or so to allow their 15-year-old application to limp along. I actually like everything about IB except the fact that cannot stop f'ing up TWS with undocumented "improvements."
The easiest way for you to find out whether TWS improved is to download and run it. You seem to be pretty precise about what it is you disliked, so you will be able to see possible changes quickly.
I get your point and I've voiced it with IB CS but I've seen things implemented in only (lol) a year.
I have the same problem with TWS order presets. How did you solve the issue? Or did you go back to the previous TWS version?
You can use DasTrader with IB. I use it for daytrading, they have those colored level 2s and a pretty quick platform to react off news
