Yeah, it's not much to begin with, but after 2 years we would be at about 6M...

Maybe also some friends will be convinced of the result, so that they could want to invest into our "private family and friends fund"... :)

And I think after some months from now on we can get a medium sized bank loan, ie. some 100k's when we register a business.
But I want do that in a no-tax-country like Dubai, for faster accumulating capital without paying any or much taxes...

I have witnessed and have been a victim IMO of a market manipulation:
    Bid=1.00 Ask=1.40
I wanted an immediate fill of a short-selling and have submitted a limit order @ 1.00.
In TWS a warning came saying something about "customer protection and pricecap at 1.25",
I waited about a minute, nothing happened, then I increased my limit to 1.40, and wanted then try 1.00 again, but...
...suddenly the Bid changed to 0.75...
    Ie. a lost opportunity!...
Maybe a now lucky someone frontran my order...

The said warning had this link for further info:

  4. I could be wrong but:
If the last known bid was 1.00 and ask 1.40, TWS may have noticed that your 1.00 is based on outdated information and moved it to 1.25 to protect you. (Why sell at 1.00 when it should trade at 1.25).

You may wait because perhaps its thinly traded? (What symbol, and was this during trading hours?)

The bid may change down to 0.75 if the MM/computer notices: Oooh, someone actually placed a trade, okey, let me update what the price should be now to be competitive.

Sometimes when I'm bored I'll look at thinly traded options and place a bid only to see it in the books suddenly appear and all the other MMs adjust to my new bid. Then I would change it a few minutes later and watch all the other MMs update too. Yeah, bored.... :p

I don't think you've lost an opportunity. Did you see any trades going on in the books?

Note: Based on the bid/ask spread you are showing, I'm guessing its an extremely thinly traded symbol and you may need to wait a while to fill it *or* over/under pay. In either case, you won't be happy.

    Ok, I understand, thx.
But it was only that single strike somewhat thinly traded (like most *.50 strikes), the strikes around it were more active, and the $1.00 Bid was "in range" with the the other strikes around it... After the Bid going to 0.75 I unfortunately haven't observed what happened with the other strikes, I just was disappointed, felt betrayed...

This shouldn't have happened with TWS, it should not have any old/outdated data in its display.

It still is mysterious because its message seem to have meant that the Bid should be at least 1.25, but then the Bid went even more back to 0.75...

    One just makes experiences...

  6. Gotcha

    Gotcha

I'm confused here because marsman is still in SIM.. correct? So him even placing a bid order wouldn't show up anywhere since its not a real order and hence wouldn't change the books at all. Am I missing something?

Yes, SIM with realtime data. But everything looks very real, even my own Bid/Ask shows up in the order book, but of course this can also be just local in the TWS, dunno, don't have other platform to verify. Maybe I'm trading IB's real money... :D

No-one cares about paper money, least of all IB. If you think IB is frontrunning you, you're severely delusional.

True, but let's be honest, here: he's fairly delusional even if he doesn't think that. ;)

I'm even getting acknowledgement messages from the exchanges each time I change my own Bid/Ask limit, but dunno if they are really coming from the exchanges:
