You've clearly never been short a wing option in the middle of a proper sh1tstorm... Otherwise, you wouldn't be saying silly things like that. Erm, it's very much technically possible, although probably not in a simulated mkt.
That's really funny, Jack. Because DD is irrelevant in this kind of trading of mine. In one of the postings yesterday I gave the reason. DD can be "fixed" (or manipulated) easily... Ie. IMO in this case a meaningless metric... And: I repeat for the 1 millionths of time: I'm not daytrading!... I'm over over such childish and silly metrics... I mean in my case DD/MDD is irrelevant... Forget it... Also please dont start with the next one: VaR etc. All nothing but crap metrics, much like TA and FA... What counts is just the realtime price action, nothing else... Ie. in my case the said "sell high, sell much" principle... From this simple fancy barchart (NAV time series) you should be able to derive the daily DD you mean: https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...least-30-per-month.301450/page-8#post-4308533 I'll post tomorrow (or monday) an update of it. Btw, I can encourage all people to study the orderbook, it's so simple, and the knowledge of it so powerful and useful for own trading... That's the place where all meet, incl. the MMs...
I have to repeat this: everybody in my ignore list shall not post here. They know whether they are in my list or not: if they don't see my postings when they are logged in then they are in my ignore list... They see my postings only if they are not logged in... I can also post the content of my ignore list if necessary... Suffice to say for now: Martinghoul and optioncouch, among some more, are in my ignore list... One wonders why they still post here... I don't need such destructive, disrespectful, insulting and useless postings of them.
I promise that I will stop posting here if you just answer one simple question truthfully... Are you or are you not the same person who used to post here under the name "botpro"?
botpro? Never heard of him. I'll have to research the archive if I find time. What's with him (or her?)?
Just out of interest, and in regards the broker IB. If Mars can do as he says, would IB pick up on his excellent trading skills and then copy them? Or is a broker not allowed to piggyback his clients? I'm not saying they would front run his orders (but I'm sure some brokers do) but perhaps tag on with his orders. IB is probably one of the most legit brokers out there but then this is the financial markets we're talking about and they're known for their crookiness.
Have I mentioned this is the best thread on ET right now? And by best I mean most entertaining. Hate to break the news to you, but it works the other way: When you ignore someone, his posts can not be see BY YOU, but he can still see and respond to your posts. Actually, unless you mention it to them, they wouldn't even know they are on your ignore list. The more you know...
Let's see the business side of backing for a moment, because there is a Catch 22 there. Let's assume you make 20% month after month, and you have a deal with your backer for a 50-50 split. And you also compound the gains. The problem with any excellent trader making huge returns being backed is that after a while the trader will break free because he doesn't need more backing anymore. So you are making 10-10% compounded monthly for you and your backer. Guess what? After 7 months, you have the same amount as you were backed with at the beginning!! At that point there is no point in staying with the backer because you could just keep going at it alone and compound 20% for yourself alone, instead of getting taxed 50% (beside the income taxes later on) by your backer. This is an inherent problem of backing high return guys, not just yours... So does your backer realize that you are going to leave him after 6-7 months?* Also, why not do it like a real man and sign up for credit cards and use that money? CCs don't take 50% per month out of your super duper system.... *If he is reading ET, I am sorry...
