Please keep in mind that most of the insults hurled on ET are things that people hate about themselves. The way I look at is you have four $5000 deposits for a prop trading account. If you are really dedicated you will make money before you blow up four times. Do not trade with garbage retail brokers like Scottrade. Do not make one more trade. Get an Interactive brokers account while looking for a prop firm. If you want some trading ideas that are likely to work if you are willing to use good money management send me a PM.
Thanks for the advice. I clicked the brokers link on this website and I found great comments about IB. I'm about to open an account ASAP.
I just talk to a customer representative from IB and I'm just amazed. Margin rates for accounts under 100,000 is UNDER 7%!!!! .005/ share. IB here I come!!!! P.S. I feel like such a dumbass for not opening an account sooner. At least it's better than later.
Sure. Playing poker AND trading at the same time. With internet poker becoming possibly illegal due to new legislation being passed through congress and most likely being signed by president, I've decided to focus all my efforts towards trading. I've also understand switching from poker to trading will be a smooth transition due to the fact that similar psychological traits used from poker can be transferred to trading. For example, you might have 80% to win a hand and still lose. I understand that in the long run if you keep on being an 80% favorite you'll win. I know how it feels to be in a LONG LOSING streak as well. I also learned many things in poker that can help me in life. For example, money management, cutting your losses, etc. etc.
why not just move to Vegas? You can trade during the day and play poker at night until you hit your first goal that would allow you to trade full time. Take your time with trading and figure things out. Markets are always changing and that means you will have to change with them if you plan to last. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your progress.
I'm not trying to wake up 5 or 6 in the morning to trade the markets. Also, I'm paying no rent at this point and my expenses are limited to food and hanging out from time to time. I've been bored of poker as of late as well. On top of that, I love NYC. There's no place I'd rather be and no place I'd rather be from.
