I suppose you could count derivatives but again they are derived from the underlying stock price. The point I am making is that stock price does not necessarily mirror the performance of the company. ABC1
It's a bit difficult to be enlightening when the majority of people who reply fall into the 99% I was referring to in my first post. Is there a section on this forum where finance professionals generally gather ? I'm looking for intellectual debate. ABC1
You have to decide what you want out of this thread. Did you post it so the hundreds of losers could just agree with you, or did you want to learn that you are wrong so you can change your beliefs and become a real trader? You have been in this biz a short time and haven't been exposed to anyone willing to share anything of value with you. Basically, you have surrounded yourself with losers so your beliefs are understandable. Now,going back to my first point, when a few winners come to your thread and tell you that you are flat out wrong what are you going to do with that info? Just dissmiss us? The P/L thread is there for everyone to see...it can't really be denied any longer that trading is not luck or chance. That's actually the purpose of the thread in the first place....for people like you. So it's up to you...keep hanging out with the losers or be willing to change your attitude then maybe some winners would actually take the time to show you what trading is about.
Short time ? Definitely not. Or are you referring to the forum ? Where did I say I have surrounded myself with losers ? You misunderstand. I'm posting my observations on trading based on real life experience. It was supposed to generate some healthy debate about chance in trading. It was never meant to be a personal attack on anyone. As for P/L, I have never said it is impossible to be profitable although the odds are against you on every trade because of comission alone. However suggesting a correlation between P/L and trading skill is another thing altogether. My belief is that it is chance as nobody, insider traders apart, knows what will happen to the stock, index, futures or whatever price next. ABC1
