Yeah, the sad part is that people will come and bash Gann, bash Murrey, and not have made a SINGLE trade with the methodology. I have been told that marketsurfer is a Gann trader. His absence is inexplicable. I was so hoping that wappers, the most obnoxious of them all, would be there, but of course talking the talk and walking the walk are too entirely different animals..... Anyway, thanks for the pat on the back.
Market Surfer was in the room from 7:00a.m. to 10a.m. but left. I parsed this from the transcript showing oddiduro's calls. One trade doesn't prove anything, but you're a man of your word Oddiduro. Marketsurfer is a standup guy as well, must have forgot. oddiduro (ID=2432) (Dec 16, 2002 1:09:53 PM) Sorry i'm late. oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:11:21 PM) Dam, pushed the wrong button! oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:12:02 PM) Shorting MSFT at 54.04, my thoughts only, not trading advice oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:14:53 PM) Cherokee godfather given, means house of the strong wall oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:15:11 PM) I was under the impression that it was to be real time oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:16:22 PM) he said to meet here at 1 pm , so I am here, the market would MSFT oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:17:12 PM) that should say, the market would be MSFT oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:18:28 PM) sorry for being redundant my very first time in a real time chat room oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:33:27 PM) I smell a rollover too oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:37:43 PM) 2003, I think will see new lows oddiduro (ID=2434) (Dec 16, 2002 1:57:44 PM) Well marketsurfer did not show, entered within 10 cents of HOD. Out at 53.81. One scalp, one profit, courtesy MM. My thoughts only, not trading advice. Thanks Guys
odd, minime, etal, nice trading odd. i totally forgot about our challenge and have decided it proves nothing. HOWEVER, i did state i would be there and was not, therefore how is tomorrow (tuesday) from 10-11 am in MSFT ?? best, surf
I have also decided that a challenge proves little. I must be honest and say that I thought you were one of those myopic "my system is the only system that works" traders, before we actually began to conversate. I have this thing about friendly fire, and day trading against a Gann trader is too stressful for my blood, as good as I consider myself to be. I consider us to be in the same profession, and one that is under constant assault from skeptics and scam artists. We both have systems that work, and neither of us will be trading our primary systems ( almost everyone I know keeps their primary systems proprietary, and I am no exception) So I propose a spirit of collaboration in the future. I am standing down. Where do you discuss your cycle work? Is there any particular place, or did I just miss that on your site?
odd, you are gentleman and it is a pleasure to meet you. my primary system deals with the nasdaq and dow indexes. i utilize the gann wheel to determine a channel of non- action then either enter long or short depending on which way the price breaks out of the channel. its a very simple ( except for the determining of the channel figures ) , yet effective system. i have been using it effectively and posting the figures publicly for 3 years. i also propose a spirit of collaboration in the future. all the best, dave
I just found this thread. Nice! Looking at my own charts of NDX, I can now see the channel that you are using. I will follow your posts.
Pure ignorance and absolutely positively WRONG! If you are finding this to be the case, you are using the wrong Gann tool. I have stated numerous times that most Gann software calculates its support and resistance lines using INCORRECT math. You have no idea what you are talking about, and obviously don't know how to use Gann correctly. I am grabbing 15 points every single day (minimum) in the ES using just Gann lines.....no other indicators. As for Murrey Math, you might be right.......I am not going to rip it because I have no experience with it. I understand it is Gann's Square of 10? Is that correct? I trade Gann's square of 9.
Correct, it is Gann's square of ten, and works similarly to the square of nine. I think surfer made that statement because he didn't square the charts before he drew the lines. This is a common oversight.
So, am I to understand that you use the Gann lines to both enter and exit your position or only to enter and your exit is determined in some other ways? Also, where can I find any good literature on Gann's methods? Always willing to learn new stuff, even as esoteric as this one. Actually, I use market timing for my trading anyway, so perhaps Gann is not as ideologically foreign to my trading as it may seem at the very first sight. Are there any groups of traders or tutors that subscribe to Gann's methods? TIA, wally_
