Multiple symbols for same option

Discussion in 'Options' started by RainmanRam, Aug 26, 2009.

  1. If you have a look at the near the money Oct options for RTP, there are two symbols listed for each option with greatly different prices. Seems to me that I read this is due to an event of some sort with the company but I don't recall what I read. Can someone explain why there are two symbols with such differing prices?

    Thanks,
    Ray

Multiple symbols means there's been an option adjustment due to a corporate action. Go to the CBOE.com web site and do a search on RTP. Open the most recent one(s) and you'll find the terms of the adjustment.

  3. Thanks. Turns out there is an anticipated cash distribution that will be added to the option in addition to the shares.
