Wondering if it is possible to fairly easily switch between a dialup and a broadband internet connection with Windows XP (Home Edition).

I'm having some problems with a new cable provider and may need to use a dialup for data for the time being, but still want to use cable for general browsing in the evening after market hours.

But I haven't determined a way to instruct Windows as to which connection to use while ignoring the other. This isn't something I need to do instantly, but I'd prefer not to restart system, etc.

    Thanks for any hints.

  2. Just dial into your other account while cable is still active/plugged-in and your dial up connection will take over. Disconnect from your dial-up connection and cable will be active again.

You'll need to adjust your routing table so that certain IP ranges (your data feed, for instance) go through your modem connection and the rest stays on the cable line.

I wrote a perl script to do this to be run after the modem connection has been established.

PM me and I'll send it to you if you like.
