multiple computers - internet access

  1. What you should do is direct connect to modem with 1 PC and then run speedtest. net. Ping a local and then a server in the area you trade in Chicago or NY. They reconnect all 3 with router and see. It's really trial and error.

As already mentioned if you are noticing a slowdown when connecting 3 upgrade your service. I have had 3 connected on 12 down and 2 up cable and its quite fast. Denver to Chi is 56 ms.

  2. OP, post your Internet Service Provider, what service you subscribe to and your networking hardware - router brand/model, wired or wireless, any switches and what kinds of computers or network cards you are using, again, wired or wireless.

And that's what I said. On my laptops, (dual boot) if I use Mint the speed is 30% faster then XP. This advantage disappears when using 7, but the OP didn't say what kind of OS he is using...

Yes and you should stop downloading porn while trading (fucking duh) if it causes speedproblems. Why do we have to tell you this?

  6. what bandwidth are you paying for? Upload/download?

Are you running through a router or a switch? Both?

Your internet/bandwidth should never be faster or slower no matter how many computers you are running - bandwidth should be constant. You should have a modem, router then switch. All computers should be switched, only switches to the router.
