Does anybody use multimonitor setup with notebook ?
I am interested in buying notebook and use it with 2 monitors (minimally). Is this generally possible ? What type of notebook could you receommend ? How such external monitors are connected ? what resolution they all use ?

    Thank you for your info...

i use a sony vaio that i extend to an 18" dell flat panel.

i have the sony GRT100 which has a 16" display, resolution of 1600x1200. pretty good.

think the video card that it comes with already supports dual display.

    cheers,

I've been using a Compaq P3 notebook driving a Sony 16" lcd via an Appian Traveler PCMCIA card. It works well.

If you buy a modern laptop, you should be able to connect one additional monitor directly to the laptop and another one via a Traveler card. Max resolution for the Traveler is 1280 x 1024. I'd suggest a laptop with at least 15" screen (16" and 17" available) of at least 1280 x 1024 res. Mine is 1600 x 1200, which is fantastic for charts and squeezing as much as possible onto one screen, but a bit hard on the eyes for reading text, even with large text selected within Windows.

    I was planning to buy a Sony 2.8 P4 notebook with 16" 1600 x 1200 screen and add 2 x 18" lcds, but will now probably go for a desktop with 4 x 17" lcds for similar $$$ & slightly better perfomance

    Hope that helps.
