My opinion is that if one only needs the standard functions of a charting platform without the custom indicators omitted from the paid version of MultiCharts, the free version should work just fine. I still believe MultiCharts is the best charting software out there for the retail trader. I'm not happy at all with the NT 7.0 upgrade.
I tried Multicharts a few years back and could not get the Japanese Yen Globex futures (6J or JPY @ IB)) to work because MC could not handle the 6 decimal places needed. I stuck with QuoteTracker. Has MC ever fixed this problem?
Prof: Assume you referring to an eSignal feed to MC. If this is correct would you tell me what the Settings are - Price Scale, Min. Movement, and Big Point Value. I use MC and an IB feed and don't trade the Yen, but tried to set it up when I initially got MC, but could not make it work. Did not pursue it as it was posted as a problem in the forum. Seeing Whimsy's post I again tried to set it up under MC 6 and was not able to do so. I just looked in the TS Support (MC) discussion forum and the issue seems unresolved, but the last post was a year or two back. Jack
It works fine. We've added 1 to million price scale a long time ago. Please see a screenshot attached. You should go to QuoteManager->Edit Symbol->Settings->Price Scale and select 1/1000000
Andrew: It works. I found the 1/1000000, it was buried down in the fractions, rather than up with the other 1/xxxx items. Thanks, Jack
Presently using Quotetracker & IQFeed, for the last 8+ years...Both been supurb! (Trading equities only.) Testing out the free version of Multicharts, using IQFeed's 7-day free trial...(monthly charge for MC is roughly $20-25 more that of QT; for that one gets more than 10+ days of intraday charts, the one item missing in QT). I run 50+ symbols, 4 monitors with charts...Need more time to learn Multicharts, for sure...But first impression is very positive! Hard to replace QT though... But I have until the end of the year, since I just paid AMTD for the use of QT for another year...huh...11 months Maybe THE replacement for QT?!
