MC has released a free version of their platform . It does not expire... they mention it can be used as long as you wish. This version is called MultiCharts Discretionary Trader (Alpha) TSSupport were kind enough to forward a group of MC users a copy to try out in a pre- alpha release. This is really an excellent platform Thanks to everyone at MC- TSSupport for continued efforts. http://www.multicharts.com/free/ http://www.multicharts.com/
I am trying to determine if this product is for me. I am currently using quotetracker but it will be discontinued shortly. I need a program to do the following. On the left side of my screen I set up a quote window which is populated each day with 50-100 symbols which change each day. I need to be able to click the column headers and sort these symbols by different parameters, ie. %volume change and % position in todays range. On the right side of my screen I have a 15 minute candle chart on the top half of the screen and below it a 1 minute candle chart. I need to be able to link the quote window to the charts so I can scroll down the list and see each chart in real time. This can be done very quickly in quotetracker so I am looking for something comparable that can load the charts very quickly. I tried esignal but it couldnt do what I needed. It allowed me to scroll through the symbol lists and look at charts, albeit very slowly, but each symbol that loaded needed to be rescaled so it is too time consuming. I would appreciate if someone could answer my questions. Thanks.
something like this ( simple example ) ? you can use mc for free now as long as you wish, so you can really try out everything without any obligation. see link above in previous post. hth another cool thing is this from their site.. MultiCharts and MultiCharts Discretionary Trader can be installed and used at the same time on one computer. There is no conflict between the two programs.
Thanks Tiki for your reply. You've captured pretty close to what my layout is. I dl'd the free software and fiddled with it for a bit but need more time to adjust to it. I chose esignal as my data source but for some reason cannot get the intraday data to show. I will ask support about this. How do you find the speed from going from one symbol to the next in displaying the charts?
possibly you did not add the symbol. one way to do it is like this see attached. part two on next post
Personally the speed is fine, depends on how much backfilling. Unfortunately there is no support for the free version MCDT. They did set up a forum to ask questions and get feedback from other users. http://www.multicharts.com/discussion/viewforum.php?f=17
Tiki, Is it possible to paste in a list of symbols all at once? And do I need to pick the exchange for each symbol?
Hi ProfLogic, I remembered that you tried both Multicharts and Ninja chart, and you think Multicharts is better. I don't use backtest or programing auto trading, do you think the free version MTCD is better than NT in real trading? Thanks.
