  1. here you are Andrew ,
Those symbol cannot be read .
The way we name a symbol (stock) in our place is a 5digits plus a stock name .
As you can see the picture . The digit part is ok but the word part is not ok . As we cannot always remember the digit of a stock and we need to sort it too so that was why this naming system came .

I hope you can fix it in a minor fix but not until the next version as it is very annoying . I can only search those finance web and make sure the symbol is the right one I want to see .

  3. We are making improvements to handle foreign descriptions and I could see that symbols with Japanese descriptions worked fine in QuoteManager.
However I'm not sure MetaStock handles strings in Unicode format. So I need your met stock data to test it on our end.
Send me the folder with MetaStock data please.

I sometimes see these problems if I don't have the correct foreign language pack loaded into Windows. But then all my programs would have problems, not just Multicharts

What would be the easiest way/Method to Plot Commitment of Traders Data if I have it saved in Excel.

Is there anyway to link the resolution of the scanner window to a chart?

I'd like to be able to have a currency pair with say 5 different resolutions in the scanner window and then when an indicator criteria fires in the scanner I could just click on that resolution and it would bring up that pair and resolution in the linked chart?

Ok... Heres my lists of problems. I tried out a trial of Multicharts 5.0 latest build to see if I really could make the switch over from tradestation. I really was going to purchase a license... but there is no way I could live with this things foibles on a daily basis.

Don't get me wrong - I love the idea of multicharts and I think it could be great but i'm staggered by how much of the program just flat out doesn't work and that they are charging money for this thing.

A small list of things that just don't work...

The resolution link on the charts. There is no way to link resolution to the scanner window.

The workspace tabs can't be moved to change their orders. The move buttons don't work and they can't be dragged.

Indicator alerts don't work consistently. The dialogue box comes up maybe once out of every 20 times. While the audio alert does work, it leaves me scanning 20 open charts to see what candle actually fired. I think it is related to if you have the platform running actively ontop of everything else... it like if you are already looking at it and then the alert fires, it doesn't label it. And even then its a crap shoot.

A small list of things that need to be included...

HOTKEYS! How hard would it actually be to code this? Honestly? I can do it in VB in about 20 minutes? Yet this feature requested by their userbase has somehow gone undeveloped for years. For those of us who use drawing tools a lot having hot keys saves us tons of time. Having to click the damn tool bar and then come back to the spot on the chart we want to draw on is a huge inconvenience.

And a small list of things that always seem to go bad with its interpretation of data...

Soo all of my charts this morning linked to Tradestation data? Multicharts is convinced that from the time I shut off the charts last night until I turned them on this morning no market movement occurred.... and it translates this into one massive bar from where it left off until where it is. Chart refresh maybe? Sure- but it doesn't do anything.

Its just unacceptable. Fix the SERIOUS flaws and then i'll switch. Until then I continue to be dissapointed and waiting for you guys to get your act together.

And while I sound like a scathing a-hole let me make something clear. I want to buy multicharts and use it. I would love to eliminate my monthly platform fees with tradestation. The program is so lean and fast - I love that. A lot of their features are very innovative and the overall package I think is better. The easylanguage editor is very nice and much more robust.... BUT the platform has yet to address underlying issues in the foundation of the program IMHO.

Really. I thought lifetime license was supposed to be for all future upgrades? They are going to stop supporting this version? and essentially start a new

So I guess it is safe to assume that this product was just to get TS Support on the map. There will be a "Part 2" to Multicharts? Like an Enterprise version?

edit: I saw the next few posts by Andrew. But I do have questions still.

    Yes. Please keep this open.

So you are going to initiate a major/minor upgrade policy? Where major upgrades (eg: 5.0 to 6.0) will cost money but minor upgrades (6.1, 6.2, 6.3, etc). We need some type of protections for this. (like 12-24 months) so that whatever major upgrade you do will be supported and protected for a period of time against a nearby major release.

daedalus last comments are interesting. Concerns are understandable, and I think 1/2 of them are already covered. The right person will point out whatever settings modifications are necessary to complete your task. You should have seen the complaining years ago when the licenses were $400 and less. Oh, we wanted Tradestation x 100 and everything perfect. Multicharts has come a long way.

But perhaps that long bar I can help. Go to the quotemanager and figure out what exchange that exact symbol is traded under (you can get this information in multicharts as well). Then in quotemanager, edit the exchanges. Check the exchange times. Should be 0000-2359. Sun-Fri.
