    Never noticed the reply, tx.

After contact with the company in Feb, it turns out the MC IQ.dll is infact limiting tick download to 8 days, not to the fault of DTN/IQ. I believe it has to due with fact IQ had upgraded tick history from 8 day to 30-day in fall, and TSS never made the amend. TSS developer is aware of problem and stated it would be corrected in upcoming release (Beta 3 or 5.0 final?).

It's not a substantial issue, my current 4.0x final release works flawlessly for what I need, so not going to change what already works.

  2. Dear all :

I am currently using metastock EOD and plan to buy multicharts for day trading . First of all I have to make myself a day trading system so I have chosen multicharts as it is easy language compatible . Unluckily there is not support for people who have not yet bought it so I have to ask here for help .

For the data , I will still keep buying EOD data for my metastock data provider in hong kong . I will buy intraday hang seng index future data from data provider too but I found out that the historical data provided are in XPO or TXT format . What format should I choose to use in multicharts ?

Second question is , as I still using metastock and the data . Can multicharts use the dat data of metastock files ? I have installed trial version of multicharts 4.0 but still cannot open the my metastock EOD data now and cannot obtain technical support from them too .

If I subscribe realtime data feed to use multichart for day trading . What should I care about the data format ?
It manual said it is compatible with a lot of data but I really doubt that it may have problem with some of them . Wish someone can really help me as I plan to shift to multichart and forget metastock .

Which data provider for hong kong market do you recommend to trade hang seng index future ?

    Thanks in advance .

  3. MultiCharts can import any TXT(ASCII) files. It recognizes almost any txt file automatically.

Yes it can. MultiCharts 5.0 Beta 5 has improved support of MetaStock files.
Please contact our helpdesk and indicate that Andrew Kirillov offered our help to import the files.

You shouldn’t care about it unless it is DDE. What Data feed are you going to use?

  4. Finally , I can "open" multicharts ,
I am very disappointed about it .....

I dont know why the creator of this software like to make things more complicated . I still cannot open a metastock EOD data file . I dont know why the process of opening a file is that dazzling . In metastock just open the folder than you can see everything .
In multicharts , I have to do a lot of dazzling process to add and do it and set that . But finally I cannot still see a graph in my software .

see the right corner , there is still no data .

I have another csv file about historical intraday data which was obtained from other data provider , but the data "adding" of multicharts have to imput the exchange and a lot of information .
Maybe I am a new user for this , but I think the file opening process should be as simple as to open a file , just a historical file . Why so complicated ?

Besides , it seems cannot support double bite charactors , the stock name in it became monsters code that I cannot read .

Up to this moment , from buying the software on net , they said they will email me within 48 hours but finally I wait for ~4 days and I had to phone them to ask to get the user code , to just open a file . I still do nothing about it .

    Very disappoint about it .....

  5. I have been trying for a day , today is holiday , I still cannot see a single chart like things . I followed the tutorial instruction from the web , both my data EOD and a CSV file of futures historical intraday data . I can use the quote manager to import the data from the file .

Why the design of MC like to make thing from simple to complicated ? I really don't understand . For non real time data file , such as metastock EOD file and other historical future files . Why can't multichart make it just like opening a file from folder . Just like open a file in file manager .

The only response I read from the black window is that there is no data .
What is the matter ? I bought a software for several days but still cannot see a single chart from both two existing source !!

Because MultiCharts supports a large number of datafeeds and they all have different formats so you need to set the symbols up and supply the information. It's not really that complicated and if you are still struggling contact TSSupport via on-line chat when they are open next week and they'll show you how to do it.

  7. thanks , but personally I think that a good software should be very user intuitive . Different file format ?? Let the software handle it , it should not be the user's concern . User only click and open , that is all . The function of MS is surely not stronger than MC but their support seems better than MC . How can I not feel bad that I bought a software for days with data in my hard drive but till now I cannot see a single chart that can be opened in it ?? I think a normal human will feel angry about it ....
Up to this moment (I have wrote to their CS already ) I still see absolutely nothing from the software .
    Forgive I say that .

  8. I felt same too . Why not just let it open a folder and click to choose a file of non real time data ? I just bought it but till now I cannot see a single chart in this software . More worse it that seems it cannot support double bite charactor that most country other than english will encounter . The stock name become monster words and cannot be read ....

However good the software, it is impossible to cater for the incompetence of every user. TSS support is some of the best I have ever encountered. It is such a shame that you didn't bother contacting them before posting here.

  10. I agree. I've used MultiCharts for over 5 years and find it to be the absolute best charting software tool for the professional user. I monitor over 1500 separate workspaces (stocks and futures) weekly and has far exceeded my expectations.
MultiCharts isn't bug free but they work harder than any software company I know at fixing any problem that is brought to their attention.
Any software takes patience and a bit of a learning curve. If the user isn't willing to devote that effort then they should go to a less robustly designed product.
