did you turn on the computer at 11:59:03? I won't call that a gap; that's a big chuck of data missing. Does it happen everyday at the same time? If yes, you can check your session time of that symbol to see if it is set correctly. You should also check 1. the computer's system time 2. the chart's time (i.e. local time vs exchange time.) 3. internet continuity
Thanks tums, I haven't changed any of the settings you mentioned, and it worked absolutely fine until today. I have used opentick before and thought, that these missing chunks of data was a problem on their side. Now I got the same thing with esignal, which leads me to the conclusion that it has probably something to do with MC? Btw: I have turned on the pc at the time of the 'gap', right. I would expect that MC automatically retrieves and backfills missing data with the data collected from esignal. I have now manually deleted the data for the last 2 days and restarted MC. It collects the data from esignal but the 'gap' is still there - strange. I have no clue, why this happens.
go to File>Preferences... select the tab "Data sever mode" you have to check the box "I want to download missing data".
I had something like that going on at one point, the cure was to uninstall the software, delete all the directories, and reinstall... there may be a better way but that is what I did...
QFT - the problem is not just with new features. The same attitude is often true with bugs and issues. First you have to submit the report 3 different times in 3 different ways then you have to argue the toss with someone who gets all defensive and can't even entertain the idea its an issue. Its incredibly time wasting for the user and for TSSuport. Fortunately the first line support guys and gals do not go through this dance. Three guesses who the worse offender is? Time and time again it has been pointed out that core functionality is absolutely critical. Receiving and storing data, retrieving and rasterising it must be done accurately and quickly. (incidentally this is all feature independent claiming stuff is slow because of MC's features is ludicrous. Typical of the defensive, make excuses approach). Who cares about genetic optimisation if core functionality is slow and 'clunky'. Confucius say man who build house on quicksand...... Funnily enough for the longest time TSSupport argued that it was all working as well as could be expected. Only when it starts costing sales (as I have been suggesting probably for 2 years now) is it looked at. Actually on a couple of occasions Stanley admitted to me that they had got there priorities wrong with some stuff, but time and again they still do. My hunch is that no one there actually trades using the product and that's a large part of the problem. having said all that MC is getting to the point where it pretty OK. Some of the irritating bugs remain, many have gone. It could be excellent if a bit more attention was paid to the traders that use it day in day out. Cheers.
Dear Andrew, I am testing the newest version of Multicharts and i like it very much. I am a long time user of TS2000i and i dont use IB as a broker. What I am missing is a tracking window where i can see my open orders, filled orders and positions. Similar to the one in TS2000i. I know you are busy with other things and you might not consider this important -- Therefore I would like you to ask whether it would be possible that i pay for custom programming and get the things that i want from Multicharts ? You could then use it in future versions or just leave it out. This is a serious offer and maybe you can send me a private message.
I downloaded the trial version and found one thing is very, very annoying -- the last price color keeps changing between up, down & wick colors. I don't even know which one to look after. It confuses end users since last price keeps move between other indicators' price, and these indicators has their own colors too. If users don't like the way last price color is displayed, they should be able to choose a fixed color, since the bar chart colors already let users know the price is up or down.
I am running a trial of 3.0, I can tell you that the "limit" syntax is available, I haven't tried it yet. Version 3.0 also has a portfolio tester, I have run a simple test to try it, nothing more. I'm not familiar with 2.1 so I can't comment on other differences.
