17's and 19's cost about the same, and have same resolution.

You should be able to easily outfit a 4-monitor rig for <%1K.

  2. 30 inch samsungs 305T's..

almost 18" Height x TWENTY SEVEN INCHES Wide! - Without Stand. (the bezel is razor thin!!) get the tape out, contrast this with what you have now !

    @2560 by 1600 resolution!

    GET TWO!

of course, you need a great vid card too.

    all together,vid card + 2 30's = ~3000 grand

pocket change for the successful trader

  3. I have a 6 monitor set-up. My PC is a Dell Dimension 8300 (purchased in '04). I have 2 Matrox Graphic cards for the monitors: 1 is a "quad" card for 4 monitors and the other accomodates the other 2 monitors. 4 of my monitors are 19" ViewSonics and 2 are 22" AOCs. Total cost: App. $1950

Matrox Cards: App. $800.00 (Quad was pretty expensive)
    ViewSonics (4): App. $700.00
    AOCs (2): App. $450.00

It's a great set-up -very easy to navigate - and I saved quite a bit over getting 1 of the bundled packages I had checked out online.

    Thanks Gnome for the reply..

I could just use any flat screen monitor
    to make a multi-screen right?

Yes, but you have to be cognizant of the video card's capability. Not all of them support the new widescreen SXGA resolutions. (For trading, I avoid widescreen.... my fav is 20", UXGA, 1600x1200. 1920x1200 would be good too.)

  7. Agreed.
    Widescreen monitors are a joke.
Stick with the basic layout, it gives you much more height.

can you get most monitor sizes in normal format (not widescreen), such as a 22 or 24 inch?

also, if someone could post specs to look for when buying a new computer. (i dont want to get more than I need)(will just be a trading computer, no scalping)
