It's been a while and Google is your friend with this. I've NEVER set up any single machine with more than 6-monitors. I just find it foolish and in practice the traders I've worked with usually appreciate having multiple machines (because anyone with 6+ monitors usually has at least a partner and would use a second keyboard). If you want 12monitors I'd suggest either 6x2 or 4x3 and either two or three machines, respectively. I forget, there is either a registry or OS tweak that you can do to extend the number of logical monitors in W7 (WINDOWS SEVEN). No idea about W8. Building a single machine with 12 monitors is crazy. Three quad cards require a lot of power... and then you have differences in BUS speeds... and it gets hot... and it uses memory... and you need to open a TON of applications to fill 12-monitors worth of real estate which maxes out the CPU on that machine... Just do three quad computers or build a decent 6-monitor machine with bigger monitors.
